Hey everyone, i'm new to the forums and I was hoping somebody would be able to help with my issues.

Anyways, I have a Savage .25 with a Hot Bodies .26 Powerhouse engine. I can get the engine to turn over with no problems, but the engine seems to run so rich to the point where it can burn about 1/2 a tank in less then about 2 minutes. When I try to lean it out, the engine speeds up and dies. I've been running Sidewinder 20% with 12%oil. I have been wondering if it is the fuel or the glow plugs giving me the problems.

The fuel ran great in the .25 engine, but the carb broke out and the metal sleeve is stuck inside the engine block.

So, basically, I have two questions.

1) How can I get my .26 to run without being so rich

2) Is there anyway to get the sleeve out of the .25 block. Keep in mind that the set screw is stuck inside the block with the sleeve. Neither will budge.

I am hoping to hear back soon because I am running out of ideas. Thanks for looking and happy driving :)

welcome MuscleHamster,,,,,,,,,,,,in my experience how i tune the high speed needle is i run a few short high speed passes.i lean it out 1/12th of a turn at a time.once it makes a junebug/lean noise i bring it back rich then a i/12th more and i'm good for up to a 20 degrees.the most important thing is 1/12th of a turn increments,,,,,,,the sleeve thing i have not seen.i looked at three of my loose carbs and they look one piece to me.

Thanks mechanike for the help. Here is a picture of the carb. The metal piece at the bottom slid off of my carb and is stuck in the block. I know that the screw is holding it in but I don't want to damage the block by trying to set the screw free.

man that blows to put a metal sleeve around a composite.you need to loosen the pinchbolt cause its a cam that locks it in.you just need to loosen it.

Yeah the 25 carb with that insulator sleeve sucks. You need to completely remove the pinch bolt to get it out. If you broke off the carb, you will probably have to CAREFULLY pry/bend and use needle nose pliers to get it out.

For the .26,have sealed it yet? What plug are you using? A medium plug like the the McCoy MC8 with that fuel should run good or the MC59 is a good one to try too.

It's broken off, so I guess i'll have to use pliers.

And for the .26, I never really thought about switching plugs from the 25 to the 26. I'll have to look to see what I have

It runs well now. It's blowing some nice blue smoke. The glow plug was my problem, so thanks to Racer 1966 for the glow plug help. :D

That just happened to me on my .25 I pulled the carb and the steel sleeve came off. You need 2 pick screw drivers. Put electrical tape over the metal and pull, maybe use a little leverage enough where the sleeve pops over the ridge enough to grab wth needle nose pliers. Tape the pliers also its gonna be a bitch to put the sleeve back on.

Thanks for everyones help, but I have solved both problems. Both were pretty easy to fix. I went back to the stock engine because it was more reliable
