Okay, my friend just got his Savage 25 the other day and brought it over today for a little bashing. His truck smoked my 21bb. I have a few questions I need answered. I am going to send my 21bb in to HPI for the new 25, what i was wondering is this:

1. Do I need to change the spur gear on my 21 to get the performance that you get from the 25 RTR?

2. What does the 25 rtr have for a clutch bell gear?

any info is appreciated Thanks

also anyone who is thinking about buying a new savage, you would be nuts to buy anything but a Savage 25, this truck is awsome, it has twice the power of the 21, and the suspension system on the 25 out jumps and lands better then my 21 could ever dream of. Just my opinion but this truck rocks!!!!

The Savage 25 uses a 3 shoe clutch. it comes with a 15 and 18 bell clutch. it also has a 49 tooth spur gear. This is all i know about the savage gearing.

As far as upgrading your engine, everything should work. Just be sure to pull the flywheel, taper collet and the clutch shoes and bell before you send the 21BB back to HPI. I ran the stock (21BB) 2 shoe flywheel on my picco 26 for a while before needing to upgrade the system to a 4 shoe. This was because one of the pins was working it's way loose on a regular basis and binding the CB. But all the parts should fit right on in the mean time. The 25 with a 14t CB (stock for the rtr 21) will produce wheelies on demand if ya got traction, and insane speed on a 16t CB, and I can't imagine what it would do with an 18t CB turning a 48t spur. A 16t CB is all that will fit in mine with the 52t CB, so plan accordingly if ya start in on tuning the gear ratios.
