i installed a OS .18 cvrx and i can not get it to run good unless it is temping around 280 to 300 per my venom on baord ,is this normal for the cvrx?

also i am having trouble with my 2 speed will not kick in at all any more ,
will the hpi 2speed work in the maxx ??

That sounds like an air leak to me. I had mine in a little HPI MT and it ran around 210-230 all the time. Granted, it's a lighter vehicle, but I was using a really crappy header and pipe that made the engine fight itself.

Your onboard might be off as well. Get a hand held temp gun and compare readings.

I think the 2 speed isnt engaging because the engine doesn't reach high enough RPMs. I think the max rpms on that engine is like 34000... i think the trx 2.5 spins around or over 40 grand...

well the onboard i am not sure of i will have to temp it using my sons hand held ,as for the 2-speed it was engaging once in a while after break in and it did it when i had the 2.5 installed also .so i thinki will replace the second gear clutch hub ,will the hpi 1 work ?

as for the temps i am a little worried but damn does it work good ,it will idle forever and when you flog it it will roll it over on to its roof with out a problem ,airleak i wouldnt think it has 1 ,it is brand new one and has 9 tanks on it ,if i fatten it up it just doesn't run good at all .even a 1/8th turn .its not going way hot staying consistant at 280 /290 if i get it into the 250's it doesn't have enough power to get out of it own way ,1 more thing it is smoking thru-out the rpm range so a little lost there ,

1 more thing ,could my glo-plug be too hot??
i am using the #8 by os med-hot

yeah i have it out like almost 4 turns ,might try going a little further ,
but this isnt the first time it has been shifting ,but when i remove it the fly out peg works good ,might need to open it up and recheck things and make sure it is flying out and it is easy to move ,i dont use any type of lube other then graphite

You didn't maybe put the little shifter mechanism on the shaft backwards once did you? I did that when I was new to the maxx and couldn't get it to shift. Then I tore it all apart and stared at it for about an hour next to the parts explosion before I realized what I had f'd up.

hell maybe thats why my new os is running on the warm side ,
i will have to tear into it later today ,damn i hate wrenching ,but then you have to get things right, lol

280-300 is WAY TOO HOT fro that mill....All the guys running them at my track keep em under 230 and they haul A$$......that lil mill is a powerhouse for a revo or maxx.....sounds like an air leak to me....

but how the hell can a brand new engine have a airleak for godsakes lol
and i was only kidding about the wrenching thing ,thats what makes it fun ,
guess i will tear it out and seal the back plate and carb

doesn't matter if the engine is brand new... It can still leak. Each engine is different.

finally fixed both things
the 2speed hub was loose and and not engaging ,so thast fixed
as for the new OS it never was running hot ,
sound wierd
well i have a venom on board and was relieing on that and i was running alittle bit ago and the onboard read 336,i dbl checked it with my sons handheld and read 267
i fattened it up alittle and brought the temps to 300 on the onboard and with the handheld,232
dont ask me why ,,but it was that far off ,i had it installed per venoms instructions it was on the opposite side of the header so i tuned it for performance and it was running 240ish and this thing is awsume ,

sorry for rambleing on ,but thought you would want to know
