2.5r/3.3

Would it be okay to put a 3.3 on a stock 2.5r without it hurting the tranny on the diffs? I have a 2.5r and I'm about to get a new motor. I was wandering if i needed to change anything or will it be okay to just put it on. Thanks

Your going to want and probably get some rrp gears for the tranny. also get the new driveshafts or cvd's. the 3.3 will toqure the drive shafts enough to snap them.

okay that sounds god but would it be good to go with metal gears? The 3.3 has a lot of touqre so it would be best to go with metal driveshafts as well? Or would it be better to just use the 3.3 stock parts

i wouldnt go with metal gears, there heavy and give no breaking point.. the 3.3 has some torque behind it, but you should be just fine with putting it in there the way it is.. if it breaks, replace it..

the people i heard of putting 3.3 engines in there 2.5R trucks usually get the 3.3 tranny and upgraded driveshafts or cvd's. but i agree with itsalifeworthliving. i would wait for something to break if it was me. but if you got the money, might as well do what you want =]

IMO the 3.3 tranny is the way to go. I researched quite a bit when I got ready to put a big block in my maxx, but then I got a Savage, then a baja 5b, then 3 rustlers, then a T4, and I decided to leave my maxx as it is for now. I have a 3.3 tranny for sale for VERY cheap. It's brand new, and I'm giving away some other new maxx parts to the buyer. I had a guy that was interested but I haven't heard from him or received payment, so let me know if you want it. I'll cut you a good deal.
