Hey I am wondering if i buy a 3.3 motor for my 2.5 t-max. I am wondering can i just drop my 3.3 motor in without any modifications? And just use the parts that came from my 2.5 on my 3.3, like the gears an ez-start. But get a new 3.3 carb and motor. Will it just drop in without modifications?

Sure will. The flywheel, clutch and ez start all bolt right up. Be prepared to replace driveline parts due to the extra power.

As MM states, will drop right in without a fuss.

I'd look into getting some better center axles, drop in a FOC if you haven't already and get a RRP steel top shaft two speed gear/shaft set.

How old of a 2.5 is it? Does it run the big 72T spur with slipper pegs? If so, get more pegs and fill all the holes in the spur. Will help let you adjust it easier and not burn up so fast.

Also, a better pipe will do wonders for it. Can probably snag a 3.3 pipe for cheap off of ebay.

I am not sure how old the 2.5 is. I got the T-maxx in a trade the other day and it was working fine but now it is not. Piston looks chipped. But i might get that 3.3 to upgrade it and just use the stock stuff thats alraedy on the t-maxx till i get some more money to change things up. So i am not sure if have a 72t spur

I just got the 3.3 Engine on Ebay new for 103$
I think i got a good deal, now i just got to break it in correctly and install it once i get it :D
Hope everything will just bolt on like you all said.

We wouldn't tell you it would bolt in if it wouldn't. Check Traxxas' website if that conformation would make you feel better. Just remember to set the piston to bottom dead center every time you shut the engine off. This goes along ways to preserving the pinch of your new engine.

I would also Recommend sealing the engine before you do anything...
IMO the 3.3 is a great small block but to save yourself alot of pain these TRX mills need sealing...

+1 on the sealing. I've dealt with 3 3.3's, and two of them suddenly became erratic. From hard landings, roll overs and such. The Trx seals definitely need some help.:)

Alrigght, I am going to seal the engine when i first get it. Just to avoid the air leak problems.
