I hit the gas and the clutch won't engage untill high rpms how do I tighten that part it's the teeth that come off the motor

You dont. Take the clip off the front and take the clutch bell off and make sure the clutch hasnt broken a pad or spring. If all looks good it could be your slipper clutch which is the spur gear connected to that clutch gear. On the tranny. Single nut in the center tightened down to a spring holding it to your tranny. Make sure that nut is not loose.

You do for the clutch on the motor but maybe not for the slipper on the tranny. What is it on? Tmaxx or revo ?? The tmaxx is the easiest to work on the slipper without pulling the tranny but either one will have to have the motor off to fool with clutch on front of motor. Its easy to pull off. Just unplug lines and glow plug wire and two 2.5mm allenheads on each side of engine also undo one screw holding muffler to chasis.

On the tmaxx you just hold the spur gear on tranny in place and tighten the nut in the middle all the way then back it off 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Unless its the torque control slipper upgrade which looks totally different. Here is a pic of my maxx tranny and the spur gear

If nothing seems loose or broken on the clutch, and/or the slipper clutch assembly(spur gear) shown in pics. Then it could be the drive gear inside the tranny which works off centrifugal force. If the piece that kicks up under rpm and ingages into gear is gummed up with gunk or so be it oil that someone put in the tranny for some stupid reason. It will not engauge correctly if it does so at all. Snookman taught me a trick to settle tranny issues. Take the tranny off the vehicle and use an air blower with compressed air on the spur gear and if all is right the drive shaft will engauge and start spinning pretty much as soon as the air hits it. If not than you need to disassemble the tranny and look fir broken or missing parts and clean it out good with soap n water and or a MILD degreaser and blow it all dry hand spin all the parts to. Ake sure its all free and reassemble all back install back in truck cross your fingers and fire it up.

I THINK ITS MY CARB ITS been sitting i just got it for 60 bucks and when i loosen the lsn alot it runs great but when i put it to where it should it wont even fire up i have it three turns out right now

wow thats a neat trick with the air that snookman seems like a smart cookie.learn somthing new on this site everyday

it is hard to start to what are the symptoms of that any help would be great

the slipper spring looks over tightened....

is it the 2 speed tranny? if so you have probably smashed 1st gear since the slipper looks tight its probable and then when revs get high enough 2nd engages.

and hard to start is prob a tune or air leak problem. also check to see if your glow plugs are lighting up if you still have ez start on it. if there not just get a pull start and a glow ingniter and away u go.

That slipper in the pics is getting replaced with a upgrade kit wed. Plus the spring is just worn out or weak because its not over tightened. I done pulled that tranny and went through it 3 times and did the compressed air trick so i know my engaging problem is out side of the tranny and its not my clutch inside the clutchbell either. Slipper fibers are burnt up.

if the slipper is slipping it wont catch on if it spins faster. it will only over heat... so none of the gears in the tranny are stripped out? its the only thing that makes sense to me....

Ok so how do u search for an air leak what's the best method

Revo 5309 I'm not the one that posted the issue of only catching with high rpm. I was just posting the pics of my tmaxx tranny to show where the slipper is on that model. My problem with my tranny is the slipper is completely worn and is not moving the truck under ANY rpm and after trouble shooting and compressed air testing my tranny i made the conclusion that its the stock slipper for the 2.5 and i ordered the slipper upgrade kit that comes complete with new spur gear 3 fibers and plates spring and nut on a new input shaft with the two gears that mount on the input shaft inside the tranny. The old spur gear that you see in the pics has 6 small round fibers and they are wirn down to even with the metal so the plates are directly metal on metal. It has to be the problem with my tmaxx. Other than the fact it has no engine cause i took the 3.3 off and put it in my Revo and yesterday it broke the connecting rod off at the piston and broke the bottom of the piston as well. So now i have to rebuild my 3.3 but i do have a brand new 2.5r on the way and currently have a old 2.5r back in the revo for now.

That does not fix my problem I just wanted to know how can I search for an air leak

What is the post about, air leaks, slipper clutch, trans upgrade, what are we trying to figure out.:\

Trying to figure out why my 2.5 is so hard to start

Don't waste your time trying to find the leaks. Eliminate the possibility. Read the sticky at the top of the nitro forum. All the info needed is there.
