I'm having a heck of a time with my 2.5 tmaxx engine. It was running fine, about to start into my 2nd gallon of fuel. Now I can't get it to idle at all. I've tried with the idle screw all the way in, no luck. I can get it to run by turning the throttle trim all the way up but as soon as I hit the brakes it cuts off. I reset all the needles to the factory settings but it seems the only way to get it to run is hold it at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle. Could I have run it too lean causing premature piston/sleeve wear? An air leak in the system maybe? Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Did you look down the carb while you were turning the idle screw and verify that the carb is opening up further? If it is then the problem is along the lines of an air leak(engine or fuel lines) or you ran too lean too long...bummer... :-(

Take off the air cleaner and turn the trim knob on the Radio all the way down. Hold the trigger in full brake position and adjust the idle screw while looking into the carb neck. You need a 1-2mm opening to get you in the ball park of the proper idle. Start the engine and tweak the setting if necessary.

I agree here do not use your trim to tune get your manual out and start from factory start with the opening in the carb as I see this as your problem as stated above your brake linkage may need to be adjusted as well. Take your time you will get it....
