hey everyone. just started an account and have a quick question maybe somebody knows. i just got a screaming deal on a team losi 26 big block but later found, its becoming difficult swap the motor to my 2.5 t-maxx (conversion kit). any advice?

I know you already have the engine you want to use so this may not be what you need or want to hear. I was just talking to a guy at the hobby store today. the way he explained it or at least the way i understood it is you can send in your 2.5 to Traxxas and they will replace it for almost nothing and for just a little more upgrade it to a 3.3. don't know if it is a complete engine, carb and all. upgrading to a 3.3 my carry some extra costs if you need to get bolt on's.

ya i have been told the 3.3 is an easier swap but not as powerful as the big block of course. any idea what i would need in order to swap in a 3.3?

you need nothing to swap your old 2.5 for a 3.3, the 2.5 and 3.3 are interchangeable when it comes to exhaust/starter should fit right in. For a big block you need an extended chassis, and will want metal drive shafts, and at some point you may want metal gears in the tranny, depending on the engine you may need a engine mount, but all you should really need to fit the big block in is the extended chassis, the metal shafts and gears are just because the big block may break the plastic being a bigger engine..

You'll need to upgrade every part of the drive train for it to hold up to big block power. The 3.3, or other engines in the .18-.20 size range moves a T Maxx really well.

ok. i just purchased a new 3.3 today and decided to either try and sell the big block outright or on consignment. thanks for the help! although the big block sounds fun, all the parts i need to upgrade sounds like no fun for me or the wallet. thanks again guys!

Ok comin from someone with the experience....i have a old school 2.5 tmaxx that i squeezed a kyosho gs .21 on it with no problem...then upgraded to the dynamite big block chassis.......and uhh I'm runnin a OS .28 on it right now with uhhh all stock parts besides the actual driveshafts from the tranny to the diff.....stock diff gears.....stock axles.....yeah...i bash the poop outta it lol...so its not nessecary to upgrade every part....just start fixin it if it breaks.....

Then you have had better luck than many. Even with the conversion kit, I went through trans gears, diffs and axles. At least one of those would shell on me in a bash day. Had very few days that I went home with a working tmaxx.

This was before the 3.3 existed. Ended up getting a savage so I could run a bb. Got rid of the tmaxx shortly after. Would have probably been a different story if it was a 3.3 spec tmaxx though.
