what the deff between the two the rrp foc steel gear set say's it's the same for the 2.5 3.3 but why do some 2.5 run a 70+ tooth count spur and some 2.5 and all 3.3 that i have seen run a spur much smaller like a 56-62 tooth count?

ok i tryed a 72 tooth for 2.5 on my 3.3 with the stock clutch bell and with a 20 tooth bell i had and the truck would top out at like 10 to 15mph so the gearing in the tranny couldn't be the same could they?

Try running a 58 tooth spur with that 20 t clutchbell. The bigger spur gear you run the less top end speed you will have, and vise versa for the clutchbell, wich means the smaller clutchbell your run will also have less top speed.

go to the Traxxas website and compare the two transmissions using the exploded views. The internal gearing is different inside. I know that the 3.3 tranny includes the ability to change the interal ratios to one of three different possibilities. The 2.5 tranny offers no such parts to swap.

ok i got a 2.5 black tranny with rrp gear and the foc off of ebay but now the 3.3 front shaft is to long what shaft do i need and can i just buy the front by it's self?
