I'm going to ask the age old question of what should be my first upgrade to my t-maxx that preferably is an easy install because i dont know very much about nitro powered trucks.

Hey dude,

I would definitley reco that you check out allot of older threads in this forum VIA the search feature.

From my own experience with a new Maxx. I would say RPM bulkhead braces for your VERY first upgrade. I'd also get Titanium hingpins (they can bend and break but not likely) as the stock hingpins are way to soft and can bend from regular bashing (read, nothing hardcore..just small jumps). From their I would reco you get RPM A-Arms. FYI, If you break any RPM product under "normal" use they'll replace it for free. I couldn't say enough good things about RPM and most here would agree.

The stock T-maxx is pretty tough but not nearly as strong as a stock Savage. I can drive the hell out of my buddies Savage .25's without breaking or bending most anything. With light romping I was breaking and bending chit on my stock Maxx. $2000 l8r my Maxx should be pretty bulletproof...lol.

Peace

Since it will run perfectly fine in its stock condition, I would suggest a failsafe and fuel filter.

Beyond that:
Motor Saver Air Filter
New Steering Servo with Proline Steering Kit
AL Shocks

The list can go on and on. But this is a good start.

It will engage the brakes in the event your receiver loses contact with the transmitter. Protects you from having a runaway.

The failsafe will not protect you if you suddenly lose all power in your receiver pack. In this case you need a throttle return spring.

first and formost-- failsafe
i had a brandnew t-maxx and the day after ibroke it in just after chirstmas, i had a runaway and spend up a 40$ getting it running again.

FUel filter-- u want the engine to last as long as possible its only a 5 dollar upgrade for a nice stone one.

RPM a-arms-- tough as nails and lifetime warrenty. enought said, only about 40$ for the whole set

after that id say nicer pins and then a proline steering kit. and if u got the mulah, get a nicer clutch.

Failsafe
Fuel filter
Motorsaver Air filter
Lunsford Ti. Turnbuckles/hingepins
RPM anything...

Which kind of failsafe would u guys recomend because i looked around and there are so many. Thanks for the help

The Venom or the Ofna are good ones. I am partial to the Ofna since it is so small.

Hey just curious guys?? Why do you say to get the motor saver air filter?? I still run the original, and I find it to be a very good one. I mean seriously, does the Motor saver one breathe better or something?? But, to add my .02 I would have to agree with the rest of this column. If you are looking to upgrade any performance mods, I would start off with the steering servo, and work from there.

I say get a 21 conversion and try to ignore that nagging "should have gotten a savage" feeling.

Seriously though, what these guys are recommeding is good. Although, i would put integy's aluminum front bulkheads near the firsts of the list. Then i would do the RPM arms at least on the front. I've been running stock arms on the rear for 6 months worth of bashing with RPM on the front. I broke 3 sets of bulkheads and arms on the front before i went with the integy/rpm combo. I havn't had a problem since.

Maybe my driving got better? Naaaaaahhhhhh...

i had the same problem man it to cost me about 44 dollers to repair.
