1st engine break in

heard so many methods, but here's my deal

brand new SUT RTR. gs-25 engine.

gettin close to 1 tank...get her up to 200, 3-5min, then cut. full cool down

havent moved the needles much from stock, lil leaner, idle is decent. have brakes discon'd b/c they were causin a small headache w/break in.

advice on where/how far/at what pace should i move from here once i finish off this tank of sit and run at 200 then cut. i will say in puttin the piston to bdc this last time 4 cool down that the motor is just a tad easier to move finger on the flywheel.

By the way mine is very fast after using my procedure. I used the same as recommended by Sirio when I broke in my 27. 1/2 tank intervals, letting it cool down all of the way with the piston at bdc. It took a while but it was worth it.

well up thru tank 6. still 190-200 til near end of tank. still very fat and takes a while 2 get goin. wonder bout this clutch. do have it set sloppy on throttle response 4 ease of trim adj's 4 holdin a rpm durin break in. lots still belchin out the pipes. tank 7 maybe 2mrw. might lean it just a lil down low.

I'm using the heat cycling method (everyone says its good) but you NEED A TEMP GUN which i see that you have, so i would try heat cycling.

a little late now as I'm sure your already done breaking your SUT in. but for anyone else that reads this down the road.

since I've switched to the heat cycling method i noticed that not only do i get more power out of my engines, but that they run cooler and last longer too.

well thats what i thought i was doin. its still hasnt seen tank 7, and after 7, goin 2 introduce it 2 its normal fuel. and that might b next mar/apr.

speakin of that 20 vs 30? RTR engine, supposedly 30 runs cooler? thoughts?

Higher nitro lets you run it richer, but it's harder on the engine internals due to the increased bang. Normally, when you up the nitro past 25%, you should add another head shim to accomadate for the extra compression. Or you may end up blowing glow plugs a lot.... not to mention, it's harder on the internals of the engine.

I run 30% in mine with no problems. Last time out it ran 240-250 after some long wot runs.
