Well here is my first ever airbrushed body. I kept it simple and used XXXmain and parma masks.

All Faskolor paints. The purple is Fascescent purple.

Badass Rob! What brush did you use? I've tried the Faspearl blue with my double acting brush, but it clogged alot.

I used a Badger Deluxe Set Model 200. It has been sitting around in the box for over 12 years. I am pretty sure it is a cheap set since I got it as a gift. Never used it untill now. I also used those Propel cans. Once I figured out they need to be kept warm while in use, everything worked fine. No clogging at all.

Cool. Might have been me and my iawata compressor. I've had better luck with Parma laquers.

GJ again, looks good.

Simple sometimes is the best effect. I likes. The flames look good and the fade is nice. And Fasescent Purple is my favorite color. I've already done 2 bodies with it. I keep having to force myself to put it down whenever I get a new shell to paint...

sometimes you may need to thin them with a little water.

that is one tight lid ROB!! any problems with those mask? I'm thinking of using some of the XXX mains on my next project.

Parma has laquers?

The clogging deal is just plain old water based basics, alot of people hate them for that reason. Every once in a while you'll get a bottle of paint that just will not go through the brush, it just sticks to everything like snot!

That body looks good Rob, nice color choices.

Thanks guys. I am very happy with my efforts. I don't think I will ever buy a pre-painted body again.

Paintbug, no problems at all with the XXX masks.

Looks great. I just spray painted another lid, but it came out like crap. I really have to get an airbrush.

My bad, Pactra Race finish was what I usually use.

I've had excellent results shooting Tamiya acrylics on plastic, but that paint isn't meant for lexan. So I know my brush will shoot water based fine. Maybe I just got a couple old bottles of the fascolor and it wasn't working right.

Also, what brushed do you guys use? Mine is a Badger Crescendo 175, double acting on an Iawata pump. I've tried all three needles, and various air pressures up to 30 psi. and like I said, the Pactra paint has treated me better than the acrylics.

Error, I have not had much of a problem with Parma paints but I prefer Pactra's waterbase stuff. I have run into lots of problems with sign paints. I have boxes of water based sign paint, some given as samples and some I purchased stupidly. You paint along for 2-3 minutes and the stuff just blocks up the whole brush, thinned, straight or however.

Daily I use a Paasche VL. I love Badger Crescendo brushes also, I have some Binks Iwata and other brushes hanging around but for the cost of the VL and 175 they can't be beat.

I'll just have to get some fresh paint and try again. I got the fascolor at a chain store, so that might tell ya something.

The 175 is an awesome brush. I'm working on a Tamiya 1/16th Tiger I using the Tamiya paints and thinner. it's really looking scale. I just haven't painted enough lexan yet to really speak on that yet (about 6 shells so far, 2 Savage Bronco's with Pactra, 2 micro rs4's with fascolor, 1 buggy and 1 1/10th ST with rattle cans). I like my Dad's air system in his shop more than the Iawata pump. he has oil and water traps in the system as well as a real paint hood. The Iawata has a water trap, but I don't think it's as effective.

Why do everyone else's paint jobs come out better than mine? I've been known to mess up a single color shell many a time.

Nice Job.

Definately a kick ass looking lid. If that's your first airbrush job good job man. Wish I had me an airbrush.
