18T Steering Servo Problems

Use some of that FastEddy servo tape. I once used a 1" square piece to mount one of my receivers and once set it would not budge when I tried to remove it. I actually tore the receiver case in half trying to get it off LMAO. I ended-up prying it off with a screw driver.

The tape in combination with some sort of strap on top squeezing it down to the chassis should do it.

My servo in my mini-t is mounted in this manner. It does not budge.

That was my original thought but I will need to redo the horn to allow for the additional thickness of the tape. It will most likely be the way I go. I don't like the idea of permanently mounting the servo with glue.

I just got the Ass. Hitec servo saver setup for the 18T part number 21049 and its not the proper part. Looking at it, its the same "H" parts that are included in the kit. The splines are of micro size and not the larger ones for the servo we have.

I'm going to mess around with trying to go direct mount with common parts and the least amount of moding as possible.

The Associated servo upgrade kit is designed for the Hitec HS-56:hypno:

Hey Ed,

Were you able to find a mounting solution? I am still dead in the water. I am in need of the top Ti Turnbuckle for the front right wheel...... The part is back ordered through December... so although I am looking at trying to fix the steering setup... It does not appear I will have the truck up and running by Xmas like I had hoped. At least my stepson's is an RTR so we should be able to at least run his. I am anxious to see how your mod turned out. Take care my friend.

Tom

Sorry I flaked out on you.
Been up to my eyeballs in crocodiles.
(All I wanted to do was drain the swamp)

Ill shoot some photos soon I hope.
I ended up mounting the servo with "FastEddy Speed Tape". I didnt like that it moved a bit so I also added a bead of Zap-A-Dab-A-Goo (Shoe Goo) around the edges. I had it out in the street on Sunday and its works well.

Its 8:30 pm and I'm still at the office and dont see leaving for a few hours so the pics wont get up tonight :( sorry.

Tie rods
I have ordered from theses guys in the past. They ship FAST!!!

I totally understand about being busy. Running a store is alot of work for sure, especially around the holidays. I hope all is going well.

I am sorry to bother you about the servo thing.... I was just curious to see if you were able to make it work the way you wanted it to.

I am still kicking my self in the rear for breaking that turnbuckle.... I was working at getting at the servo horn when I bent it. Damn Servo!! LOL I will check that site out you posted. Thanks!

Well take care my friend and I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

BUSY or CRAZY BUSY is my life too! Try running three biz (all RC related), Daddy Day Care, and part time husband. PLUS, I terminated the guy working for me (Jeff) for stealing me blind !!! Here is my brain :microwave

Also, have you guys seen the metal server saver clip (eliminates the plastic one that slips bad).

I have the metal clips. Got them as the first step to cure my wondering. I posted the link or PMd it to a few guys that have the 18T. They work well. With brushless systems installed unfortunately they still didn't do the job for me. There is to much force and speed involved. The DP drag link is a must as well. For me, The direct link seems to be the answer. If it will hold out, only time will tell.

As far as being busy, We all create our own hell and must live there. If you can't handle the heat, get out.

Here are a few quick shots.

Actually the only issue I have had other than breaking a stupid turnbuckle was this steering issue.... the truck is a little tank other than that.

So far I have installed the larger servo using a little glue.
An old servo horn from the junk box did the direct link trick no magic.

DP drag link
MIP diffs
MIP CVDs
Screw kit
Foam tires
Tekin brushless

It sounds like it's going to be bullet proof!

I need to pay you a visit during your racing season and bring a couple of mine.

Every other Sat starting in spring.
I have Robmob hooked and Dom as well.

We are racing Mini-Zs now on Thursday nights indoors from 6-9.

Remember to let me know when it starts. What town?

Petaluma.
100 steps from the front door of my store.
Corner of East Washington and N. McDowell.
1 block off the freeway.

This has been a blast to build so far.... It's kinda neat that a few of us have started an 1/18 build and were able to share the experience. I know it helped me avoid a few problems during my build.... and helped me get through a few I couldn't avoid. Thanks to everyone who put up with my stupid questions! LOL

You know what this means though..... we now have to get together and race these things!
