Hey guys, my hubs have a ton of play in them and I'm gonna buy new. Which ones should i get that will stay tight the longest. I have a 5308 and i think they changed the design didnt they?

If you want the best no slop solution look into tekno carriers and stub axles. This setup has almost 0 slop and is super strong.

My play is not in the carriers, its all in the adaptor. I can move the wheel around on the truck and see the tip of the stub axle movin up and down in the 17mm adaptor. I will check into the others mentioned above. I thought there were 2 different traxxas adaptors, one that was upgraded to stay tighter longer.

If you're gonna run traxxas 17mm wheels you're gonna need traxxas 17mm hubs.....or be real careful with a dremel. I use glow plug washers behind the hubs to remove some of the slop.

There were 2 different designs of the traxxas 17mm hubs. The originals wore very quickly and are long since gone, its doubtful you could even get them now. The later design lasts longer before the slop develops and you can always modify them to remove the slop when it occurs.

Ok thanks i thought i heard that b4. Mine is the 5308 so maybe there the first design. I am in the process of modifying a set of ofna adaptors to fit my traxxas wheels. I could easily modify the wheels to make the straight hexs fit, but i think the snowflake kinda design the traxxas adaptors would have alot less chance of spinning in the wheel. We previously had a few of the straight 14mm traxxas wheels spin out.

The 1st link is for the slash and I believe the XO-1 also uses them as well and will not fit the stock revo stub axle correctly (depth). They are different design than the 2nd link which are the hex’s that have been redesigned I was referring too. It’s been several years since the redesign of the hex and traxxas never announced it. I just measure a lot of things and found it myself, just like there are 2 different style connecting rods that have been used in the 3.3 engine that most people don’t know about either.

The hubs in that 2nd link look the same as the hubs that came standard on my Revo, if they are then it doesn't take long for the slop to appear. My Revo (& my brothers) is only 2 months old & already has a good bit of slop. ATM I have wrapped some electrical tape around the axles & put the hubs back on over the tape, it removes the slop but is only a short term fix, it works though.
