hey all,
ok igot a question wats the difference between a 14 mm hex and a 17mm hex. Like i have a savage 4.6 and they come with 17mm but i t'hink in the parts bag there are some 14mm. So I'm looking on ebay for some nice rims but there ALL 14 MM i can barely find nice 17mm,, So does it make a difference?

I just answered this, guss I didn't hit post reply.

The Savage comes with 14mm hubs because there are so many wheels available to fit 14mm. The 17 mm hub is stronger because the sides of the wheel hex that grab the hub are bigger, therefore a lot less likely to strip or "round out". When I buy wheels for my Savage, it will most likely be 14 mm because of all the options that are available. The T-Maxx, I think the Revo, along with countless other MT's use the 14 mm

Hmmmm, there are tons of 17mm rims, depending what your looking for.Not many chrome rims, but tons of dish, and spoke rims. 17mm is MUCH stronger IMO. I have seen a few 14mm strip when in a high power truck. I have NEVER stripped a 17mm rim.

3mm, Sorry but I had to say it, but if you want super strong go with 23mm, there are quite a few wheels out there for the 23mm adapters...

yeah i was going to say the same thing. if your stuck between 17mm and 14 mm you should just go all out and get some 23mm wheels. i have some put I'm just in love with the maxximizer rims i got. there 14mm but i only have a 2.5R in my revo. ill switch up to the 23mm conversion and wheels when i get a new racing engine!

WOW I'm LOST.. I'm looking for some Nice GUNMETAL rims...
Anyone?

Yeap I use 17 and 23 mm on everything I have for racing, but I was under the impression he was looking for some "bling" because of what he showed me in a PM. Sorry for the bad advice.

My RTR Savage came with 17s, and I got extra deep dish wheels that were also 17, but for the IMEX 44 series that I got for the bling, I got 14mm adapters in metal, since those wheels were only available in 14s and the adapters provided in the Savage box were plastic.
The higher the mm size, the more beef to the wheel hub. Kind of like using a 6 point socket because a 12 might strip it.

Don't listen to him. No chance of the wheels stripping out on that shelf queen. Can't see how it would if he is just picking it up to dust. :)

Sorry Bro, I couldn't resist.

He is telling you right, as usual. More area to hold on the bigger hubs.
They had problems with the 14 stripping on the Savage at first. Was just the HPI wheels?
Stick with a good aftermarket wheel and keep them tight.

LMAO!
They get a lot of wear when I keep taking the wheels off to polish the shiny little pins that lock the hexes.

Mine are pretty dirty right now. What kind of polish are you using? :)

Just ragging ya Bro. Mine has been broke for a year and a half. I need to get off my ass and fix it. 'Ol lady came in tonight and was talking about running the cars. Just been fouled up with other things.
