I have a four year old Nitro MT that I blew the stock engine a while back and lately decided to resurrect this thing. I went through the engine exchange to get the 15ss engine for it. Along with it HPI sent me a new flywheel, collet/washer, and engine mounts.

I'm still a relative newbie but the engine doesn't fit and my clutch bell rubs the spur gear. The screw is tight as possible on the pilot shaft.

I have it mounted in this order of parts:
Engine>>Drive washer>>washer>>collet>>flywheel>>pilot shaft. At this point the flywheel is off center on the cutout below it.

pilot shaft>>racing clutch>>bearing>>stock clutch bell>>washer>>screw.

Ends up about 1/8" too long.

Before I start modding things to get it to fit I wanted to make sure I was building it up correctly. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I'm still too long. Should I press the collet in all the way off the engine?

That didn't work. I think if i ground the edge of the collet off so it is flush with the flywheel I would be fine...does anybody know if that would pose a problem? The collet is used to shrink down and sort of clamp on the engine shaft right?

yes. I recently had a similar problem and had to remove all washers from between the engine and collet. This allowed the collet to move just enough closer to the engine so that the CB didnt rub the Spur any longer. I dont know what negeative affect this might have but it seemed to work.
