Was running my 144001 buggy with all stock gearing and and sheared my spur gear but didn't hurt the pinion gear. Bought and new exact replacement and when I put it all back together it's locked up but I put the sheared one in its not . What's going on I've taken it apart 10 times and can't find anything.

I saw you say its an identical part ordered but did you actually confirm that by physically comparing? Sometimes parts get mismarked...🤷‍♀️
Is the pinion mesh set correctly after you install the motor?
Have you actually watched the gear rotate around to be sure its not defective or bent?
Brand new plastic from china doesn't make me ANY more confident that its actually a good quality part.
I have seen spur gears with run out to the point of being unusable.
Also, any chance the screws you are using to install your motor are too long?
The screw length is important and has caused me an issue or 2 over the years.
Is there any chance at all that you are overlooking some damage to the pinion or motor?
How did you shear the gear in the first place?

The factory motor was not removed just the center drive shaft with the spur gear and all gears are metal. I spun the shaft and saw no wobble and the mesh is identical to the factory. Just wondering if motor got damaged when it sheared the spur gear beings it's a brushed motor.

Unless this car uses a pinned mesh system, you'll need to reset the mesh when you install a new gear. Factory, new, metal or plastic. Setting mesh is not hard and it sounds almost def the issue you are having.
Since you have the car and its all if 5 mins to check it, give the mesh reset a try.
If its still the same, you're out a few mins of time and no more.
If you want to remove the motor for closer inspection, it might not be a bad idea.
What destroyed your original gear?

Brushed or brushless has not much to do with a damaged motor not rotating correctly and causing gears to explode. 🤷‍♀️

I was running at the house with no problem til esc was getting hot and then I heard a noise then I went inside took the body off and didn't see anything at first then started rolling the wheels that's when I spotted 3 gear teeth gone

Ok. That doesn't help much.
I'm still back to setting the gear mesh.
I would very carefully inspect your driveline for any signs of damage.
The gear got chewed somehow.
Inspect the motor to be sure its spinning right, nothing inside it...

I did have a bent dog bone on the front I forgot to mention but other than that all was doing was running it in my driveway back and forth and a couple donuts but no jumps

If the dogbone locked up your diff, it may have transfered back to the spur.
I'd keep looking just to be sure no other damage.
Did you crash? That could do it going full tilt to dead stop. 😉
I cartwheel it once but it kept going and then the spur gear went that's when I found the bent dog bone

Ok. So a crash is prob what caused the damage.
Look for impact damage, bent shafts...
I'd still check the mesh. A cartwheel accident or hard enough impact bends aluminum motor plates on 6s, 8s...
To think your mesh might have moved a bit in a hard crash is totally reasonable.

Thanks I'll check all it and see what I find
