well after some thinking, i decided i still needed reverse and there is no reason to rip apart a perfectly good drill if its not what i want, so I'm am going to build a mechanical speed control with neutral reverse, and 3-5 different levels of forward, i am still going to run 14.4v but its not a drill motor :(. oh well it will still be a very cheap way to boost my speed.

will post picks later today

you could still run reverse with your setup. all the drills I've seen have a reverse switch. all you need is a third channel and a servo to move that switch.

i wanna see it done!! lol

i might still do that later but if i can get some more money, but I'm just setting up a forward/nuetral/reverse for testing before i build it with different speeds it looks promising.

i just did a test run with it and the pack i used for the the reciever was totaly shot and it went out of range and hit a curb, but it didnt seem any faster, it actually seemed slower, not sure, but there was no damage, i had nothing anchored down, cuz i was just testing and all the batteries and electronics went everywhere, i think I'm gonna give up for today, pics still to come later.

14.4v disaster

well i got everything worked out and rebuild everything after the minor crash from the other day, and i tested it again, and guess what happened, it went out of range again, went full throttle to the top of my street and crashed into a parked truck, to total destruction. the chassis snapped in half along with other stuff, I've decided ill get a new electric car instead of putting money into this one, I'm thinking slash, give me a few ideas. I'm devastated.

i thought an electric rig would shut down when it went out of range. unless you had a mechanical speed control.

sucks though!! we need more details, and pics!

ya i used a servo for throttle and it just went full out. email me for a picture, its pretty bad (actually pm me your email and i can send it to you from my phone)
