Hey guys.

Just recently got into the Hobby with Nitro RC cars. I've always been an electric guy, until I got sick and tired of batteries and their crappy life-spans in my experiences.

I just purchased a Duratrax Raze. The Transmitter batteries have so far held up fine (using Energizers from a $10.99 32pack from Home Depot).

However the batteries in the receiver were nearly wasted after 2 hours of being on (not constantly...while trying to get this pig rich beast to start) & 3 tanks of gas breaking her in spread out over 48 hours. The receiver batteries eventually quit & thankfully the car just stopped & idled. Is it normal for such a short lifetime for the receiver batteries or do I have some sort of issue to sort out?

Will the throttle ALWAYS return to idle when the receiver batteries die, or is it neccesary for me to buy a Duratrax Failsafe unit? Is the Failsafe used in the event of the Transmitter dying?

And my final battery related question - For obvious reasons the $10.99 32pack is a great deal. Is there any difference between the cheapo batteries in the LHS or the big brand names like Duracell/Energizer ETC?

Thanks a ton for the help and I plan on sticking around this place. :puke:

For 32.00 you get 8 sets for your car RX @ 4.8v
For 10-15.00 you can get a 5 cell rechargeable battery that will last 300-400 charges @ 6v

The RX draws a lit more juice then the TX does. This means that a regular set of batteries will decrease the performance of your electronics as they get lower and time goes on possibly causing a runaway. With a rechargeable unit you can charge it before every day of use and have 100% performance before you go out to play.
There are many places to get a pack.
