has anyone done a half electric half nitro car or would that not even work ??

If you have your mind set to it i belive anything is possible. But i have never heard of that idea befor, but doesn't mean it can't be done.

i don't undestand why you would want to do this. i believe a brushless motor spins prob. twice as many rpm's as a nitro. if you put them both on the same spur, one if not both are going to run hot.

Use a nitro engine as a generator to create electricity and turn and electric motor. Doesn't sound like a bad idea for a crawler. This is was diesel electric locomotives do.

The auto comanys make something very similar there called Hybrids.Lets run them how they were designed for now. Will save the enviorment later.Keep that thought in mind though you may have something there nothing is imposible.:p:

It might work doing the hybrid thing. To spin a generator you need lots of RPM's and litle torque, so this could accomplished with a real small nitro(fuel conservative) geared foe RPM's. Then the AC voltage from the generator sent through a bridge rectifier making DC voltage to an electric motor.

Yeah I think another kid did it as well to make an on board starter....had the whole stupid wand and 6 cell strapped to the top and he was still "the fastest one at the track"......yeeeah. Also that made him no more top heavy and it make it "faster" too. What a crock of:dancingpoop:. Want half electric and half nitro put a solar panel on it...lol

I remember one of those kids doing something like that to the wand. Then used the reverse channel and a servo to push the start button. "The chassis' balanced great, I swear!". Yeah, right.

How lazy do you have to be, trading good handling and performance for a remote starter. Gimmie a break!

If it's gonna work at all it would have to be on a 1/5 or 1/4 scale. You need room for engine, fuel tank, electric motor, esc, wiring and alternator.
