hey, i know I've asked a lot of stuff about which engine to get. i got 130 bucks right now but could wait. what do you guys think? i want high end but at least a little low end to be able to just pop a litle wheelies. somethin pretty easy to tue cause I'm kinda a newbee with engines. please help me out.later

You could upgrade the engine (which one do you have already...NitroStar .21BB?) or you could go the less expensive route of re-gearing. Go with a lower tooth count on the clutch bell and a higher tooth count on the spur gear. This will generate the torque you might be looking for to generate wheelies.

yes i have the .21bb. but it wont start. I've posted that in another thread. i really dont want to keep the.21bb i would liek more high end nd plus need a new engine cause i think its dead.thank

Vince how are you with tuning your current engine as I am learning that tuning is everything. If we could find you a decent priced engine that only has a two needle carb (don't know if that's possible) that might be a help. What engine are you currently running??

EDIT: Well don't know if you are interested but you could get the S-25 engine in the hpi exchange program for $99.00 here is a link

Your best bet might be to go with HPI's engine exchange program as newnitrofan suggested. It is an inexpensive way to get a better engine. This is now guarantee that you will have any better luck with it than the .21, but it does get you a bigger engine at the price you listed. It also may not get you wheelies, but then again it might. Your call.

Last suggestion I make to ya Vince. You might think about the XTM 24/7. It is $129.99 at hobby people. You don't really need to spend lots and lots of money on an engine if you are a newbie. Getting the 24/7 would definitely feel like a kick butt hop up but will also help you through the learning process. I have heard nothing but good things about this motor. Check it out if you want.

that xtm 24.7 sounds pretty good. will it have better top end thanthe .21bb f you can tell me?? thanks. i mightgo with that if i can hear a little more about that engine, its more in my price range.

I heard the HPI Nitro Star 25 is well worth it when it comes to tuning it and has ample power. Maybe not as much as the 24/7, but enough to keep you happy. In my mind, what's good an engine that packs a lot of power but difficult to tune.

Straight from the hpi site

21BB Nitro Star S-25
Size .21 .25
Horsepower @ RPM 2.3hp @ 30,000 2.5 @ 29,000
Maximum RPM 38,000
Heatsink Head cast metal Machined Aluminum
Case silver Black Heatsink Coating
Carburetor metal Composite
Carb Adjustments High, Mid, Low simplified to High and Low
Connecting Rod single bushing Dual Bushing
Construction ABC ABC

24.7 has more top end than the .25; it has more low end too. I think total hp for the 24.7 is like 2.6; 24.7 Pro has 2.75 and higher rpm's. Although, the HPI .25 is a little easier to tune...

ok thanks for all your help guys. i am most likely goin with the xtm. i just gotta wait like two weeks to get some extra money for gas.thank again
