got a s maxx for xmas. spent over all 4 hrs yesterday doing the break in process. temp outside was about 40 degrees. did extactly what it said to do to break it in. today drove it for a little. seemed fine in the begining. then it was kinda breaking up when full throttle. if i eas the throttle up its fine but once fully open it breaks up and and seems like its chocking out. tuned for hours and can seem to fix. any thoughts. i did the 4 turns out and tuned from there. could the glow plug be bad or going. i have heard that they dont last long.

also how long should a tank of gas last when running the truck. i only get about 12 minutes on a full tank of gas. so far i have run about 3 quarts of gas through it. its an smaxx with 3.3 motor.

You could try a new plug, even though it glows while hooked up doesn't always mean it's operating properly when running. Here is a tuning guide that will help you get the engine dialed in, follow it exactly and if it still won't tune properly, chances are there is an issue like a air leak somewhere.

Be careful not to run too rich in cold weather. The con rods in the 3.3 dont like an overly rich mixture, usually indicated by fuel spitting out of the exhaust. I killed my motor doing just this last winter. I had to tune WAY rich to keep it running due to low outdoor temps. The excess fuel DOES NOT compress like air will and therefore puts excessive force on the con rod.
