i just bought a xxx-nt sport (used) it is in excellent condition, and the first night i started it up right away. I leaned it out a bit and shut it down for the night. The next day it wouldnt start.
any ideas? i checked the glow plug, and it glowed orange. well, the first part of id didnt. could that have something to do with it? Also i had my fuel in the garage. It was a little bit humid in there but not to bad. It sat there for 3 days after new. One gallon was still sealed. The uther one i used. Do you think it could have gone bad that fast? Any advice would be nice. This is my first nitro.

I would say go with a new glow plug. And pic up your self some after-run oil to squirt in the engine. Leaving the fuel in the garage that long wouldn't hurt if its sealed, I had some in my garage all winter and then some and it still worked fine.

When you pull the engine is it really easy to pull no tention or is there tention, If there isn't any clean out your one way bearing in your pull start assembly. Are you running the stock March .15 engine on the sport?:hehe:

i just ordered some new fox plugs. I just had to rebuild my pull start, the rope broke. Trust me, you never want that spring in the pull start thing to come off, it took me like 2 hours to get it back in there!! :help: :hammer: !! I took it to a hobby shop and he tested the compression, he said it was a little high because it hasent been ran much. It was still like new. There is good tension in the pull start. And ya it is the stock mach .15

Why didn't you just get glow plugs at your LHS?

Try putting it back to factory settings,
(2-2.5 high speed 1.5-2 on the low speed) , and use a (hot) glow plug. A #8 is what I use.. Did your Losi come with the instruction book? If not, I could hook you up with a copy if you'd like.
Let me know.

Thanks for the replies guyes, i did get them from my lhs, i made an order over the phone. They are an hour and a half drive from my house. We went up there the day before to get some fuel. I am 15 so i can't drive yet, and my dad would not take me up there again. Thanks, but ya it did come with all the manuals.

:marshall: Hey, my friends and mine had the same problem and senerio. What I did to both and now they run like champs is I set it a little bit richer. My friend kept going leaner and leaner till he kept fouling out his plugs. I would put it to about 1/8 to 1/4 fatter than the factory setting and mine starts 2 pulls cold.

Well i just got a brand new fox plug. Put it in, same story. I wil try to richen it a little. I just dont no what is wrong. It ran perfect for one time, then it wouldnt start again. Any one else have any ideas?

The low speed is supposed to be at 2 turns? In my book it says it should be at four turns.

when i pull the pull start, should bubbles be coming out of the place where the fuel line connects to the carb?

Get some of the tiny zip ties, or cut 1/16th inch pieces of fuel tubing, and secure the fuel line around the carb, tank and backpressure fitting on the exhaust if possible. Mind you, you will not be able to do this everywhere the fuel tubing connects, BUT, do it where you can :)

should i put like some type of sealer on the carb? Do you think that is what is causing it to not start?

If you really think you need to. I sealed a carb once and didnt really see a difference. One thing I do like for sealing a carb is a minor o-ring. The Picco carb came with one that seems to work pretty good. Maybe you can measure the neck of the carb and find one to match.

Do you have a good LHS around to help out?

My closest hobby shop is an hour and a half drive from my house. :dumb: I am taking it there on wednesday to have t hem take a look. I guess that is all i can do. Thanks for all your help guyes.

Well dont throw in the towel just yet. Read the manual, set the needles back to factory, lean the high speed AND low speed needle 1/4 turn from factory. To lean, turn the needles clockwise.

Check the head screws and make sure they are tight as well as the rest of the screws on the engine.

Make sure there is no debris in your tank or fuel lines. If the backpressure line gets clogged/pinched you wont be able to run it. That backpressure is VERY important.

What are you using to power your glow plug when you start it?

Lastly, have you checked your idle? Quick way to do this is to take the air filter off, apply the brake and see how much of an opening there is. If it is about 2mm or so you should be good. This is about the thickness of 2 credit cards. Also, while powerred on, in neutral (without your finger on the trigger) check and see how open the carb is. If it is too open, you wont be able to start it properly due to flooding. You may need to adjust your trim.

The fuel should be good. I've used fuel 9 months old without any problems at all. (sat in my garage through the end of summer, all winter and spring)

I have tightned everything. I am using a brand new dynamite glow igniter. It is one that takes a "D" sized battery. When i am not touching the throttle on the transmitter, there is about a 1-2 mm opening in the carb. My pressure line always fills up with fuel right after i close the tank lid after i put in the fuel. Is it not supposed to do that?

Is your pressure fitting on the tank or the lid itself?

If its on the tank then you can do one of two things:

1. (preferred) Order the new Losi tank - same part # as the Adam Drake version from your LHS. When it comes in, make sure it has the backpressure fitting on the lid. If not, they can send it back and get you the correct one.

2. Put in a backpressure fitting yourself on the lid. Requires some work and needs to be done right. YOU DONT want any air leaks. This is not only less expensive but quicker if the new tank is not readily available.

I started with the tank mod and then just got the new tank. Made all the difference in the world.

Tip #1 came from Adam Drake himself :) And works like a champ!

ok, um, what would the new tank do? like will it stop fuel from entering the pressure line? do you think that is why it isnt starting? Or do you think there is a leak in my gas tank and that is why?
