RC Driving Style
I am new to RC and just bought a xxx-nt rtr2 and am curious about the slipper clutch. I would like to know reasons for adjustment, what to look for, advantages/disadvantages either way

The XXX-NT slipper is mainly used to fine tune traction on certain RACE surfaces. I f you have a local track in your area you can really utilize the slipper. If you just run your truck for fun around the park or neighborhood you should try to keep the slipper on the tight side. If you jump your truck alot and really hammer down on it to get BIG AIR you should run the slipper loose but not too loose. There is a very slim line between loose and too loose. These trucks were really designed for the dirt track in mind. Sometimes the BACKYARD BASHER as everyone likes to say has a hard time finding the ultimate setup because the terrain changes so fast as opposed to a predictable race track. Good Luck!
 
thanks i do have a local track, and that is what i was wondering about. i can't accelerate at all without loosing traction even if i'm at 1/2 throttle and move to WOT it will break traction and spin out.
 
On mine, I would adjust it so when I went from o to full throttle it would go striate. If you adjust it like this for any given track it will get you close. From there you can tighten or loosen it to match your driving style.
 
thanks eddy. when i accellerate from 0 to full throttle it always spins out to the left so i should loosen it some right?
 
Yes.
Loosen it up a little bit at a time just until the torque steer goes away. Sometimes I find it to be a tad bit to loose at that setting and tighten it up a little. Make small adjustments 1/16th turn at a time. You will most likely never go from stand still to FF on a track so keep adjusting it to find a good balance.

With this being said, you are now utilizing your slipper more then you have in the past. This will demand that you maintain it properly. Go buy several packages of slipper pads. you will need to change them more often now. Keep a close eye on them and replace them before they get to bad. The last thing you need is to have it lock up or even worse, Not engage at all.
