Hello,
I got a new XXX-NT Drake Edition, and was going to tap the tank cap for the pressure fitting, when I noticed that there was a screw in the middle from the inside that holds the O-ring in place. Does not look like there is room to tap without running into this screw. To those of you who have done this mod, how did you work around this screw?
On another subject, I was thinking of getting the OS Max .15 cv-r engine (non pull start) for this truck. What is the general feeling about this engine? Any info would be very much appreciated!

Thanks,
Larry

Take out the screw and then make the tiny hole go strait down where the grove is between the outside of the lid and where the screw seats. You should pull off the lid and then take screw and the bottom off including the o-ring. Then you can drill it and put in your filling. All you do is thread the fitting into the lid dont use the nut. Then line up the bottom piece that the screw holds. line it up with one of the little holes directly below your new fitting.

As to that engine I run the .12 in my xxx-nt and I love it. You really dont need the .15 because its so easy to overpower these motors. I would suggest .12 cvrx anyday of the week for this truck they are exceptional. X

I totaly agree with x I would go with a .12cvr. The Drake truck is so light that the .15 is just going to over power the truck and make squirly on hard accleration.

Not only will the .15 over power the truck, but if you want to get into racing most tracks will only allow a .12

Thanks guys for the info. I should have stated before that on the .15 I was thinking of using a slide carb. The truck will be used for dirt oval racing. The track where I race said you can use either a .12 or .15 engine. I am surprised that the truck does not handle the .15 that well, maybe I will rethink this and go with a .12!

Thanks,
Larry

First if you are thinking of getting a slide carb here is the best deal going on a .12 Tower os-cv-rx .12 It has a pull start but you can still bump start it just get a manifold for a regular xxx-nt and it will let you use the ps along with bumpstarting it.

Now as far as it handeling a .15 man these little stadiums trucks are so light that you just done need that kind of power. The biggest Joke out right now I think is the TRX rustler with the 2.5 in it that motor is NASTY. It throws down stink like no other .15 i have seen. You hit a point though that you no longer can drive the truck because its just a rocket with wheels. Thats all the Rustler is a Rock that will go super fast in a strait line. You will waste all your time racing a 2.5 ruslter waiting for the corners to flup the over powered terd back over. Now if you arn't racing then I suppose it would be ok to have one to try and decpaitate small animals with. Anyway the .12 will work nicley in that truck. X

This thread will NOT be closed, however, I am going to delete anything that is not relevant to the post itself (the pressure mod).

I just want everyone to see first!

:ahh:

Order a replacement tank from Losi. The new version already has the pressure mod done. I got mine last week. Probably going to install it today.

i am pretty new to the hobby and i was wondering what this mod helps, just curious:confused:

If you dont have the pressure line mod done on the top of the fuel tank lid then just order the new tank. Its much easier and is molded appropriately.

Aside from that, I picked up the HG diff nut and replaced the washers with the thrust spring by AE. Eddy would know the part number as I cannot find the header card. www.1HG.com has some cool Ti and Al hopups for the XXX-NT. Check them out.

thanks but i was wondering what the pressure line mod helps and I'm already picking up the diff nut I'm sick of those things stripping out

Well if you dont already have the pressure line mod done then YES the mod helps IMMENSELY! Anyone here with the XXX-NT will tell you it is a MUST HAVE! Your mill will run MUCH better and the overabundance of fuel in your exhaust will decrease.

The way it currently stands, you will have to just order the stock replacement tank. Most places have the new one but there is a chance of getting the old.

Do you have a local hobby shop? If so, just go through them. This way they will be able to send it back, no questions asked, and pick up the postage too!

If you cannot get one, my LHS may have one in stock. Let me know.

Hello all i have another pressure line mod to add if i may on the xxxnt rtr the pressure line runs directely into the pipe thus causing harmonic disturbance inside the pipe thus cause minute loss of power available a way to cure this is to buy a small threaded nipple at your lhs the cut about a 1/4 in. peice of fuell line of and c/a glue it onto the nipple then simply glue that into the pipe far enough in to hold it but not so far as to disturb the flow of exhaust this only works on the factory rtr pipe as far as i know or possibly any other pipe that does not have a nipple on it from the factory

I have a slight mod to that, use an automotive silicone sealant instead of ca glue
