I plan on getting a XXX-NT kit. This will be my very first R/C.

I feel if I get the Kit I will learn more about the truck and how to work on, also snow will be on the ground soon and would like something to work on.

MOTOR

1. I wouldn't need a motor right away, but the Hobbie shop has a new MACH .15 that came out of RTR NT for $75.... Is this a good price? What do you think of this motor?

2. Or should I just wait and get a O.S. motor?

3. What is a good O.S. motor for a Rookie....and what will I have to pay for it...?

4. What type of O.S fits an NT,, (long shaft ,, short shaft , etc.)

Thanks for the input

O.S. .12 CVR or an O.S. .15 CVR

The .15 may be a hair too powerful but I have fun with it in my XXX-NT.

The stock engine is OK at best. It will in fact get you in the game and past the learning curve. However, an O.S. mill being as easy as they are to tune may make your introduction to this hobby more enjoyable.

Its good to see someone getting into the game the right way by building their kit. It will help you soooooooo much in the long run.

I have the Losi XXX-NT RTR with the stock .15 and it has plenty of power and punch. Probably too much for racing on a track. But I would have to say the engine certainly screams. I don't know what kind of longevity it will have. I probably have 3/4 of a gallon through it. I've never had much tuning problems. As a matter of fact I rarely have to tune it. I don't know if i was lucky or not. If the mill goes on me I would go for an OS engine. You can't go wrong there for sure.
