Posting this here since there's no dedicated XRT forum and I believe the X-Maxx is close enough to be applicable (I'm new to the forums though, so let me know if I've broken an unwritten rule).
Just bought my son an XRT for his birthday and he'll get it on May 17th. I used to be big into RC so know there are always some essential upgrades you HAVE TO get for your new truck. Looking for recommendations on what those first upgrades should be?
Back in the day (20 years ago, when I ran an HPI NMT) it was always HD diff gears, pinion/spur, and driveline parts. From a durability standpoint, are those still top of the lost with the XRT?
Are there other parts you'd upgrade right from the start? Slight side note, but what are the parts you'd stock in your spares box so a day of bashing isn't cut short?
I like the idea of buying a few drivetrain upgrades as it forces my son to tear down his truck, understand how it's functioning, and be able to put it back together. At 13, he's very curious about this type of stuff but now he'll get hands-on learning!
Oh, I bought myself an XRT too because it's not as much fun to run alone. Gonna be hard waiting until May to give this present
