I’m planning on getting an X-ray XT8E when it becomes available this spring. Anybody able to share ownership experience?

Thanks for the reply. I’m limited to where I run. A couple of decent dirt tracks. Not that well groomed. I’m finding myself really enraptured with speed and throttle control on a track. I’m starting to consider traveling an hour or so to race. Parts availability is my biggest concern. How do they compare with HB ?
I don't own one but race with several guys who do, they are very competitive, anything in particular you need to know? I'd be happy to ask them at the next series race when the fast truggies show up!

Naturally, I'm going to be biased with the belief that HB is better for me. I have raced a XRay XB8E'2015 and ran into durability issues with the pivot balls as well as snapping the threads off the steering fasteners in the metal plates which became VERY expensive to maintain. Never had an issue getting parts for XRay, they just happen to be the most expensive parts on the market (next to Mayako).

On my HB, the parts tend to wear out rather than break and very rarely have I experienced a DNF, also never had a problem getting parts for HB either. HB has been the least expensive brand for me to maintain so far.

I have a spare E8T Evo3 kit (opened box, nothing missing) that I am willing to sell for $550 shipped if interested... I bought a second kit to have spares but don't really need it anymore now that I've figured out what spares I need.

More info here on my build/setup and recommended spares/upgrades to consider:

Pivot balls versus caster blocks…I lean towards C blocks, but I have had good luck with pivots. Hopefully what you are speaking of is addressed here. “The servo saver top deck was also redesigned. The new top deck features additional clearance to prevent binding even if it is overtightened so the steering will always move freely. Fits both XT8 and XT8E”
Just to be clear…these pivot balls?

Or these?

It's a completely different design from the what I had issues with, but yes, the area you circled would have the threads snap and no way to remove the threads captured inside the aluminum spindle which required a complete replacement of the spindle and that aluminum part was VERY expensive, doh!

most brands use carbon steering plates in this area which is my preference.
