Are the front and rear driveshafts of an XL the same length or different? I am building an XL from spare parts I had laying around and one thing I need is D/S. I checked my parts and didn't have any that fit so I ordered some 123 MM shafts and its to short in the rear and to long in the front.
 
the Xl gets its added length added behind transmission, so yes it is longer. X is also longer in the back than the front. 123mm length would be for the length of the 4 corner shafts.
you need HPI 86054, 8x142 taken right from the online manual on HPI.com!
