Build Showcase xJTORC's Vanquish H10 Optic Kit Build

My take on the Battle Born livery kit. My first attempt at a scale build after 30 years in the hobby.

Just posted a separate thread of the maiden run video action here

I took the buggy out to the "easy" section of my local crawl spot. It blasted and crawled its way through everything with ease. When I have more time available, I'm going to take it out to the good sections of trail and really put it through its paces.

First Impressions:
  • Kit build: Nothing broke. Nothing came loose. Nothing needed adjustments. Maybe I'm in my prime when it comes to building, or perhaps the kit is just that solid.
  • Electronics: The Sequre Escape32 ESC and 1800kv Outrunner brushless motor combo on 3S is perfection. I'm running out-of-the-box ESC settings and the only thing I feel that I may need to adjust is the drag brake. 100% on/off is a bit jerky lol. This setup is smoother and has better slow speed control than my Hobbywing Fusions (SE or Pro). I'm not sure how this setup is not more popular.
  • Suspension: Everyone tells me to throw the stock shocks in the garbage but...they're doing their job and not leaking so I'll let them rip til they fail. My rig is heavy. I built the shocks with 50wt oil thinking it may be too light but it's just right. I have my collars up high for a good bit of droop and it worked out well. The suspension is active when I want it to be and smooth and slow when I need it to be. I didn't notice any unwanted unloading or wonky compressions other than some passenger weight bias due to the battery being in that door panel...but that's easy enough to remedy with some collar adjustment or possibly a heavier spring on passenger front.
  • Tires: The BFG Krawlers in Predator compound are the perfect sticky ickies for the slippery Virginia rocks. Maybe even too sticky in some situations.
  • 3D Printed Mods: Nothing broke! I was expected a shatter and crack fest but the PLA+ I printed everything in held up even to a few tumbles.
What can change?
  • I want to overdrive the front. Neccessary? No. I'm just used to having my front ends OD'd and I know it would improve crawling performance that much more.
  • 1800kv isn't for everybody. I do not reccomend the 1800kv motor if you're looking for any amount of speed. Even on 3S, it is slow in this kit. It's perfect for me. Just putting that out there in case someone reading this is considering 1800kv in their Optic. I would definitely go 2200kv or above.

The driver... 🤣 he looks like he's doing 70mph toward the first jump and just realized there IS no brake pedal! 🤣
Been there at 30mph in a Ford f150. Happened quite a few times before they worked the bugs out. The real fun comes after you leave the road on a bumpy and rocky surface realizing your dead ending st a red light with heavy cross traffic. Who needs caffeine?

@xjtorc amazing work my friend. Your attention to detail is on another level. Not jealous on this end one bit. 😝

Thank you much! That means a lot because this is my first attempt at doing anything "scale" and that scale bug bit me hard.
