ok i got upgrades for EVERYTHING that was broken on my truck. savage XL conversion, engine plate, braces, new CB, stiffer shocks, and a full RPM arm set.

when i first had the motor out way, way back, i had set the gear mesh just by feel. then i just did that for the countless other times i had it out. after the savage rehab about a month ago, this freaking mesh will not set. i tried the paper thing. stripped spur. got RRP spur and CB. tried paper trick. stripped CB. later found out that i bent pretty much everything that has to do with the mounting of the motor. now its all been replaced by 3mm thick savage XL parts so its all straight. THESE FRICKIN CLUTCH BELLS KEEP SLIPPING!!!:angry:

i spent an hour trying to set the mesh. tried the paper trick countless times and it would always bind. then i finally just pushed it all the way in at the spur and backed it out a hare so it would roll freely. i mean it seemed perfect from my not so highly trained eye. it was fine just making passes up and down the street. then when i drove it up a hill i hear this UNGODLY metal grinding noise. the type of noise that you never want to hear.

please someone help me. every time I'm getting pushed away from this hobby. the first couple of time i was still interested. i had Rolex syndrome, constantly cleaning it. now i haven't even touched it and its been 2 weeks. PLEASE HELP!:(

PS the current CB is not entirely stripped but idk if its still good. ill have pics tomorrow. it i just really scratched up. it almost looks like the engine is tilted forward because there is scratches on the engine side of the teeth and not the tranny side.

Wow man, thats sad to hear. One thing you might need to check it to make sure the engine is perfectly straight. The slightest turn in it can eat all kinds of things. Make sure you have a Hardened CB if your running the steel one. The way i set my gears up is i move the motor until its snug against the spur then back off until the CB and spur spin freely. I run a 14/56 gear set up with rrp gears and have yet to have a problem with that. One other thing it might be which i found in a maxx i used to have is make sure the shaft that the spur sets on it straight, don't ask me how but i bent one in a maxx i had and it would always eat either my Spur or CB, but after i replaced that shaft everything was smooth sailing.

when i finished putting it together i checked and the motor is straight.i did that because the one problem i had before is the plate was bent so the engine leaned forward alot. and first i had a hardened clutcbell, then i got a extra hardened one. infact, I'm pretty sure i can still use the CB. there is no actual metal missing from the teeth. it is just scraped down to bare metal on each tooth, but the teeth are still pretty beefy.

I'm not home right now and I'm doing this on my phone so i can't check my spurshaft.(new word!:)) and hopefully i will be driving home in a new F450
