Wanted: new bigger motor for the T-maxx. I like the Wasp .18, but would take any thatd make er scoot.

JUst FYI the XTM .18 can be had from 79- (non ps) to $109(pull start) new. They run really nice and are easy to tune.. lots of git and go.

Hey 4u -

The Sirio .18 is a nice engine that shouldn't roast your plastic Tranny gears and diffs but it's freaking expensive IMHO for a .18. Averaging $189.00 and then your looking @ $36.00+ if ya wanna get the kick ass Bibe bore pipe. Hell, you can get a mean big bore for less then $189.00 but then you have to spend $500+ to be able to run it...lol.

I'm not sure how the Wasp .18 compares to the XTM .18 but I'm pretty sure the Wasp .18 is producing 1.5HP and ported for low end like the larger Wasps. THe XTM might be a great engine for the price like Lykan is pointing out.

Yup price per HP. I haven't run any high end engines to compare the XTM to. I can say that the power the .18 puts out is exponential.

What I meant to say is that .15 to .18 isn't much of a size increase, but I would say the .18 from XTM has about 2x as much power as the traxxas .15's

The XTM .18 is about as much power as I would want to push through my maxx without upgrading the tranny diffs and axles. It's right on the edge of being too much for stock.

For $109 it's a lot of power considering you'd be hard pressed to find a decent .15 for that. The cool thing about the XTM .18 is it's long life, and tuneability. Usually when you buy a $100 engine your looking at sacrificing longevity or tuneability, not in the case of XTM, you get both :D

Hey Lykan - Not sleeping? hehe. I had one hellava horrible night and probably wont be sleeping much. Thank god I don't have kids(YET).

It's a shame that the 2.5 can be a tuning nightmare that doesn't hold a tune for chit as it produces awesome power for a .15 when it's running right. I have three 2.5 mills now and only one of them tunes ok and holds a tune for more then 8 tanks...pretty pathetic if you ask me and 90% of the Traxxas Nitro cars and trucks have it. I thought the 2.5 was a .18 when I first got my Maxx a year+ ago as I'd never had a factory .15 that produced so more power. My buddy bought his 2.5 maxx @ the same time and his engine was utter crap that had to go back to Traxxass twice (great service though) It's definitley a top end engine and doesn't have much low end. You can slap a 16Tooth CB on but it can tweak the crap out of your stock sliders when it hits full RPM.

Even the Wasp .18 should be a big increase in Low end compared to the 2.5 .15 but I don't think it's gonna smoke the Sirio .18 on the top end. I didn't like the design of the Crank on the XTM engines I've seen but I'm definitley not gonna rule them out.
