In need of a PS2 in excellent condition..... Mine finally bit the dust .....

Let me know what you have and it's history

Thanks,

Mr T

how much you want for one?

i have one, but I'm not going to give it awy/ or rip someone off...

A new one (slim version) w/ one controller and AV & Power cords is $129.

So I figure I could get a good used one (depending on total package) for around $50.

Mr T

il possible sell u mine for 100 with games but its not the slim version just to let u know though i paid $7 at the good will for it works great to

My advice: though I don't have one for sale (got three, one bit the dust) is to try to shy away from the Slim version mate. They have a really bad habit of overheating and IMO will never last near as long as the first versions did.

Also, SONY recently went through a lawsuit involving certain systems with a specific set of serial numbers- Do some research and try to NOT get one of those units.

Dude id save up and get a ps3. Those things kick some ass. I have a x box and ps2 but noting compares to the ps3. Pluse I want to play that new offroad game so bad lol.

I have a slim and it's never, ever overheated. The one's that have overheated I believe suffered from a placement issue. $50 might be a little low for used. Used ones sell for about $100 at EB, and I've seen them go for more on eBay.

Remember, some of the 1st ones out there wont play the games with the blue/purple backs. Mine does not want to play them now.

Thanks for the input fellas......

PS3, no thanks ...... I'm not into paying large dollars for the latest greatest ... which typically isn't much different.

Can't see paying $100 for something that's $129 new (w/factory warranty).

Thanks for the input on going rates Jet!

PSU ..... Good info!

Sounds like I'm best off buying new, I'm just a cheap skate and thought someone might have one laying around that was a must-have and realized it was an impulse buy.

Mr T

Well, most of use that will sell them used, have a nice stack of games for it. We are selling them with games and all, because if we sell the console, Then we are stuck with the games.

You really are better off buying new mate. Maybe check a pan shop in your area, sometimes you can talk em down to a good deal.

Chances are tho, if you are looking at game stop or any other game store they are selling refurbished units and that is never a good deal. New are usually a bit more pricey.

Ya, the PS2 Slims were overheating from placement. In a car, right under TV's but the main thing was, the little fan was not up to the task. The players would leave their units on 24 hours a day for weeks (just like I do and millions of others) and eventually the fan motor or ESC would burn out. Fan Dies, PS2 gets hot... and dies.

am not recomending a slim version of the PS2...

if you are still looking. this game shop here in town has a hand full of the thicker PS2's with a lifetime guarantee and they are slightly used, come with controllers.

i love this store.

but let me know.

pm me or something

does this apply to the first version of PS2...., or just the slim models?

the slim models dont even have a fan...

lol

have u ever looked at a slim version of the PS2?

No, the First Generation versions had virtually no problems.

The Slim version does have an internal cooling fan, a very small one. The original idea was to make them small enough for cars. to fit under the seat and whatnot. You simply can't have a machine that is 60 percent cooling fins with no fan. Most of what is in the box is a big cooling cell, open one up and see?

With the slim ps2, isn't there the problem with it only playing certain games? I thought there were some that it does not play.

Did you get one yet? Anyway I have a modified first generation version (so it plays both NTSC and PAL games) with about 20+ games and 2 wireless controllers and the remote control. Asking $150 plus shipping because of all the extras. There is also a memory card.

Ericke, thanks for the offer. I've decided to go the new route.
