i know its a long shot but looking for some good lens for my rebel xt i have a 75-300mm but looking for something with way more power trying to get some action surf shots i know there was alot of guys in here that mess with it....oh btw whats up guys long time no talk still got my rc stuff bash once in awhile....you can pm me or email me at: [email protected]
Mahalo!!!

You should do fine with the 300MM. What I would do is get as tight a shot as possible and just crop it down if necessary.
Also most good quality lenses over 300MM cost twice as much as the camera.

Scotty! What's up bro?! Been a long time man..

I think Scotty's right though. 300mm isn't enough for some really good surf shots. I figure you gotta cover some pretty good distance to get in nice n tight. I'm only comparing this to my experience in shooting a Nascar race with a 300mm lens (Rebel as well )

300mm will be fine. I dont use canon but I do alot of motorsports photograhy using a 70-200 f/2.8 and can get great shots still at 50-75 yards or more from subject.
Lenses all depend on glass, lens speed, and the photographer.

whats up guys!!!!I'm trying to shoot from diamond head shooting down about 200 yards .. iknow its a long ways but hell i can't believe the prices of canon lense my goodness i almost passed out when i saw the price of a 600mm L lense... i just won this lense on ebay I'm not to sure how good it is but its manual focus I'm going to give it a try anyone try something like this?

i hope it works i was going to buy a teleconverter 2x i just got a copy of cs2 my god this stuff is crazy

ok time to do this looking for macro lense, wide angle, 10-85mm anything canon really would like a teleconverter 2x and a 400mm 2.8

I'm using a Bower 2X converter. Its a cheap unit and honestly, Its a cheap unit........

It goes behind the lens so the auto focus still works. Its better then nothing but doesn't hold a candle to a real lens of the proper size needed. The photos lack true crystal quality that I enjoy from my good high end glass of the original 75~300 I have.

The up side is that photoshop does wonders and by the time you process your shot you have a tighter photo then you would have without it or if you tried to zoom in on the subject with photoshop. Ill have to say, for the small size and the cheap cost (forgot what I paid. Well under 100.00) its worth carrying in your bag.

I soon found out that that holding the camera by hand isn't an option. The other cool factor is that you can also double your macro.

Let me know what you find find for wide angle. I'm in the market.

oh great i was going to buy a 2x from a canon dealer yesterday but damn its like 429.00 i was hoping someone would have tested one of the cheaper models and in this case i glad you got one I'm going to hunt ebay...that canon forum that njru suggested is awesome lots of classified and lots of pics to look at as well as the setting/lense they used to take them... i bought me a epson r-1800 printer and boy let me tell you i can't wait to get a good shot just so i can print it a frame it...and normally give it away... the addiction to this stuff is almost the same as nitro addiction but cleaner...lol and hell of alot more pricey ...I'm going nutz....lol
