would it cost more to build a Savage w/ hop up from Scratch or buying one and then adding the hopups?

In direct response to your Q, I think it would definitely cost more to build a Savage from scratch. What I would do if I have to do this again is buy a used truck for a good price and then hop it up with what I would like it to be. Would be nice if you could get your hands on one that is 40-50% off the original price, then rebuild it up with good hopped up parts.

:smoke:

Since most of the hop ups that people buy are in the areas of power (engine), suspension (shocks), and strength (towers, arms, bulks, etc.) a kit would be a great place to start, BUT it would not be cheaper in the long run.

I picked up an RTR and the hop ups I wanted on the same day. I removed the unwanted parts and sold them. So far my Savage with hop-ups has cost me about a grand. Going the kit route might run you about the same.

do what I did.. get one on ebay for cheap and build on it...
I savage a lot of money... plus I sold the radio and still got some hop ups...

I might be selling engines... so check ebay
I got my used savage on ebay for $200
then sold the radio with receiver for like $60
but I would never get a new one if you plan on hopping it up...
if you are in the market of Saving money then get a used one...
even if it is new, you are still going to pay for replacements parts..
when you break it
so why not get a used one???
