Would a Savage be cheaper in the long run?

I say keep your T-Maxx since you have put so much money into it all ready, just don't abuse it too much. If you are still thinking about getting a Savage go to Ultimatehobbies.com, they have the best prices for model kits. Take care.

I just dont understand it....
I have had a maxx, bought maybe 250$ in hop up parts for it, bough maybe 100 more for just replacements, and i jump it a lot, i bash it hard, but not too hard. i try to run mine so i dont brake it, and i have had almost no problems so far. i have rpm a arms, a eaunormus cooling head, a hitec 645 servo for steering, a traxxas bb pipe, a 4wd kit, and a 2 speed kit (free from traxxas), 18t vented clutch bell, 83t delrin spur, and am in the process of getting ofna wheel hexes so i can put 1/8 scale racing tires on it. i have had barely any problems, and i have gone to our local track and raced long hours, and broke so much as a bulk maybe!! but i do break a lot of gas tanks (have 3 in my field box). so i just dont understand you guys with all the hop ups, and still break stuff. my friends say that i am the safest and yet fastest driver they know, so maybe thats it.
I can say though that i do admire the savage durablity, and for the guy who said that the most that he has seen them break is a bent shock tower, needs to talk to my friend. (bent chassis plates, broken shocks, busted one wheel, stripped spur gear, stripped his hitorq steering servo, and much much more. after it broke, it didnt look like a truck anymore, it looked like a twisted piece of metal and plastic. it was funny as hell tho! he hit a tree at ful throttle, and that popped out one of the batteries, and making it go crazy hit another tree, and then hit the wheel of my bro's truck. but i barely saw any of it because i was laughing so hard!

Check out these movies of Savages taking some abuse. These are mostly stock savages, and they handle bashing very well. Anyone can break any truck, its just a matter of the average Joe being able to bash without having to worry how many parts he has in his pitbox.

Savage Abuse

Hmm Savage hit's a pole no damage can't say that a Tmaxx would not have gotten damaged. I have both and I wish the Savage had of been on the market at the time I got the Maxx cause I would not have a Maxx today. I spent so much money on the Maxx to make it bash proof it's not funny. Savage all the way is the way I see it. Lot less mods/hop-ups needed for the Savage.

Then you haven't been bashing with us Willthethrill.

As a rule I usually will not discuss money (I find it tasteless) but I've had the opportunity to buy, build and bash 2 T Maxxes and a Mutant Maxx in the past 12 months. You're lucky. I've spent more than $6,000 on those 3 MTs. Some of it by trail and error, but all of them money pits to say the least.

Not far from my home is a large area frequently taveled by rc's and dirt bikes that has a huge hill and a half bowl that's about a 100' across and 5-7' high. There's enough room to lanch at full speed if you dare. I've landed them so hard on 2 occassions that I've blown apart steering servos not to mention broken enough parts to build most of a few more.

It's all in fun and I wouldn't want it changed for the world.

The T Maxx is faster and maybe a little more agile but the Savage is cheaper to maintain.

Thoes are good videos
RAMTech-RC.

I knew StretchM was hardcore:cheers:

Yes....the Savage is a more inherintely durable design and more durable stock and especially when it's hopped up so yes in the long run the Savage is going to be cheaper. The maxx has a kick ass turning radius and when you throw $1000.00 @ it...it phucking rocks.

Some kids tellls me the other day,"I thought hop up meant they where stronger and wouldn't break"...I said yeah but you aren't supposed to do 20ft phucking jumps".
