I have a t-maxx with a Wasp .18, aluminum front shock tower, dynamite fuel filter, aluminum front and rear bulks, rrp steel slipper spur and a dynamite terra crusher inline exhaust/pipe setup. I am breaking things all the time on my maxx, whether it's bumpers, shock towers, engines, servos, ect. My point is, T-Maxx's dont come ready to bash without a lot of aluminum. I've heard that a Savage 25 seems to come ready to bash, and I have never heard of any damage worse than a bent roll bar or a bent shock tower on the savage 25. If I sold my Maxx, I could probably get around 400-500 for it, and I could get a Savage 25. What do you guys think of this idea?

if the savage had came out 4 years ago when i got my maxx, hell yes i would have gotten it over the maxx. i have done soo much stuff to my truck to get it how it is and it still breaks. i was out at the track watchign some of the savages run and then dont ever break anything hardly. i go out, hit one jump and snap there goes a bulkhead

I had a savage, Very strong truck.
Needs very little mod's.
go for it

The answer is yes based on the amount of money I've spent vs what a couple of my friends have spent on thier Savages. The Savage will break, just not as often.

I have both. I spent over 1K to get the Maxx where I like it. On the Savage, I spent about $250.

So my answer is yes.

Honestly, my next monster truck will be a Team Associated Monster GT.
I feel that it has a better mill, and is just as, if not stronger than the Savage

If you do some resaerch on the MGT, it seems they break alot too. A-arms mostly.

My vote is for the savage.

I was not aware of that. I guess I have some homework of my own to do.
Thanks Ramtech

Hear is a good rule of thumb on breakable stock parts for the Maxx, Savage and MGT.

If RPM makes an aftermarket part for it, then the stock part is weak.

How many parts does RPM make for the Savage? Almost nothing.

I talked to the RPM guys at the RCX show. I asked why not for the savage, and his answer was the Savage doesn't break enough to spend the money on tooling. All his requests are for colored plastic for the Savage, not stronger parts. I don't think RPM makes anything at all for the Savage.

I working with a guy to make colored and Chrome plastic a-arms for the savage, out of original Savage plastic. Just for the bling bling crowd.

I didn't think RPM made anything for the Savage. Kind of odd IMO. If they made it, I am sure the masses would buy. Even if the stock parts do not break all that often.

I would love to get a hold of some purple arms for my savage.

savage is more reliable but i like my maxx think they look better

if i was u id wait till the revo comes out and get that

The RPM debate about savage parts has been had. Hell I think someone even emailed RPM about it and that was their exact answer. The savage is just stronger out of the box period. Over agility and top speed the maxx is a little better. No matter what you buy you will have to hop it up a little to satisfy yourself.

I have one of each (at least for a little while longer), and I can honestly say that I have spent four times as much on my T-Maxx (to make it as strong as a stock Savage) as I did on my Savage (because it needed some minor upgrades and mostly because I wanted to).

Using the money thing as the only argument, the Savage is the better bargain as it requires less money to keep it running.

Another re-enforcing example. I used to have a tray and a half of my field kit full of replacement parts for my T-Maxx. That was to make certain I stay running for the duration of any bash session (prior to making my T-Maxx a tank). With my Savage, I have tons of open space in my field kit as I only have a handful of actual replacement parts and a couple of performance related parts for changes in the field (ie different size clutch bells and spurs).

In a drag race, the savage is slower.

But, in an all day event, the Savage will put more miles in, since it will be running much longer. You'll have to stop every few hours to fix the T-Maxx, and run out to the LHS for replacement arms, and bulkheads, and the list goes on.

For the Savage, the only plastic part that I have broke is the axle bearing carriers. But, I'm running 40 series aluminum rims, so that may have something to do with it.

I think I might do that, but I dont want to have to sell my maxx and still have more to pay to get the savage. I can get a savage on ebay for about $400. Maybe someone would trade me their savage for my maxx. After seeing this thread though, I don't think there's going to be any offers....lol
