Hey guys, the other day I was getting ready to run the MT and I started it up and didn't put the ant up on my radio. Started driving alittle and then it just went wot. Would this be due to the reciver not picking up a signal from the radio. Cause after it did it's thing and kissed the curb pretty good, I put the radio ant up and ran just fine after that. I am I correct in my asumption?
 
Probably, most likely, yes. Weak signal and interference will cause funny things to happen. Are you running a failsafe?
 
Not sure Jet, its a Cen MT2 and Cen said there is a built in one. If failsafe means a trs then yes.
 
Yes what Jet said, always extend the antenna before firing off your rig, and if your not running a failsafe, invest the money in one I've seen to many RC's go ballistic without one and then your sitting there with a pile of plastic parts going :OMG:

I have a Cen MT2 and mine didnt come with a failsafe, check the receiver box for one.
 
A solid TRS is my preferred method. I could point out a number of threads on this site alone that discuss the negative problems caused by failsafes. I am not saying they are not worth the money and not a good idea. I am saying that if you get one, make certain it is fully compatible with your rig. Take the time to read the book on it and set it up right, or you might find that your failsafe sends your ride rocketing uncontrollably into an immovable object.

BTW, the antenna not being up is most likely what caused the problem. If you have a TRS on the engine and the thing still went WOT after the reception died, then you might want to look into how you have your TRS installed, because it did not do its job.

My TRS can't pull the servo back on my savage and it's set up right, it only closes the carb if the linkages come off:ponder2:???? Am I missing something?
 
my batteries were low on my reciever once and whenever i tried to turn it, it would open the throttle yet when i would open the throttle it wound't do anything? LOL

If your TRS can not pull your servo back when the power to the servo is secured, then your TRS is either not strong enough or NOT set up correctly.

The whole intent of a TRS is to pull the carb closed against the servo or not, should you lose power to the servo. This will effectly slow the RC by either killing the engine or bringing it to idle (this depends on your tuning and set up on the carb).

If you are content with it only pulling the carb closed should the linkage break off, then you have set it up to meet your needs...not necessarily the designed intent.

That might have been a symptom of low battery power, but would cause me to wonder if your receiver and servos were not plugged in properly. Weird things do happen when the juice is low.

I see, the TRS on my savage isn't very strong, and the servo is pretty had to move with no power. But I checked the manual again and it is setup right, the spring just has nowhere near the power to close it. I guess I'm fine as long as my failsafe works.
