What's up RCNT Nation. Here's what's happening. Been trying to get my 2.5 tuned in decently in the chilly weather, which I know is nearly impossible. I don't take it out unless it's at least 40 and calm. Wrapped a single layer of foil around the head. The problem is that the truck doesn't want to start when it's warm. It runs pretty good, idles well and doesn't bog. But every once in a while it'll die suddenly. I get alot of smoke all the way through the rpm range so I'm thinking it's a little rich both top and bottom. But when I lean the low-speed needle, It seems to die more often. I'm thinking it's all to do with the cold, but some pro advice never hurts! Thanks as always.:)

The one thing you always have to keep in mind in the winter is that you'll ALWAYS have smoke out of the exhaust. The key is the color of it.. needs to have that blue tint to it.

If it cuts out when you attempt to lean out the LSN I'd guess you are actually a little lean on the low end.

She's smokin' good and blue. I'm gonna go play as soon as it gets a little warmer out today. Basically I leaned the low end enough to stop raw fuel from coming out the exhaust(it was very minimal, but there). I'll post after while with an update. Thanks.
Another thing it's doin' is holding a rev for 1-2 seconds after a high speed run. Please don't be an air leak. My work area is out of commission for the time being.

Damn, man! Just noticed a broken tooth on my spur! Mesh was a little loose. I adjusted the mesh and loosened the slipper. Gonna give it a shot anyways. I didn't notice it last time I had it out, so it may have been this way for a while. LHS is 30 miles away! Ebay time.

Holding revs is a sign of either an air leak or running too lean. Based on your post in this thread I'm thinking you may have over-leaned it just a bit.

Thanks, man. That busted spur gear is a bummer. I've ran gears in a pinch that where worse, though. I need to pay more attention. Sloppy mesh is a sloppy mistake! Thanks guys. After my starter battery charges, I'm gonna go for it. Post in a bit.

It ended up being a little lean on the low speed. About an 1/8 turn is all it took. I noticed the idle screw was having little effect on the rpms until I got 'er back in the park. BUT THEN, the damn throttle linkage over extended the swivel! I've checked this before, as a buddy had a rude awakening with this. Wide open down the road! I steered towards the ditch expecting the worst. Hit a snow bank, flew about 15ft in the air doing backflips and landed shinny side down in another snow bank. Only damage was the spur that was shot anyways. The little jumper linkage rubbed 'er raw! Thanks again Lessen and Amoeba! I fixed the linkage and plan on putting a spring in the mix somewhere. Fail safe couldn't help me today! Runs great, though. New spurs in the mail. Just wish I could order more spring weather!
