I have a small work area about 10’ X 8’ now that my wife will kill me if I use the dining room again. Any way I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions on how I could make the most out of this space. If anybody else has a small area that has to be multi functional, post photo’s of how you made the most of it. I’m looking for suggestions on furniture, shelving ECT. I’m trying to get a solid idea before I pull the whole room apart. Thank you in advance for any advice.

I have a really nice but small work area, I am sorry I dont have pics,
You could do what I do when I need more space, I use some thick plastic or a clean tarp and put it on my kitchen table, that way if I spill somthing no mess and it came be wraped up in case you have to remove your stuff quickly. You could also work on the corner of your floor I do that a lot.

Get a shelf system for your closet.
Get rid of the fish tank.
How many computers do you need? THat metal desk looks like a good place to work on the cars.

Now for the important question, is this really a space JUST FOR YOU or is she gonna use it from time to time. If she will use it, you're better off going to the garage and call that home for your r/c's. Avoid the stress, just claim an area of the garage as yours. women only pass through the garage, they don't like to "work" in them.

The metal desk is her area. The one computer on the floor is one I'm fixing for somebody and I also have a FTP server running. I plane on redoing the whole room. I am defiantly putting shelves in the closet I’ve just not decided on how to make a work area. Unfortunately I live in a condo so no garage. I will never ever buy a condo again, that's for sure.

Oh, and the fish are my wife’s also. Unfortunately they wont die.

Well, I would get a shelf system at hoedepot (the wire shelf kind) that would maximize your closet to the fullest ... leaving just enough room on the bottom for tool bozes and storage bins. Stick the laser printer (is that what it is?) someplace else and get a storable card table that can go over that cabinet that it is sitting on when needed. Otherwise it can go in the closet when not needed or even just leave it there. If you can get a smaller computer desk that isn't so big, it would solve the space dilema. I guess I have it easy using a laptop. I just move it around on my desk when I need a table to work on.

Not much you can do with an area that small that has to be shared with the wife. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that can use a garage when necessary.
