I just recently replaced a pin in the tranny and had to get a new spur gear (70)t and ever since then, the car will not shift into second. I have tried to adjust the set screw in the trans but I have almost backed the screw all the way out and still not shifting. Any one know what my problem is? Thanks

I have the same problem,is yours the 2.5 or 3.3? I have an all rrp 2.5. The 3.3 is alot better tranny.RD just started making aluminum 3.3 cases so I will be going 3.3 soon.:surrender

I have the 2.5 tranny with a 2.5r motor, what did you have to do to solve your problem?

If you've already backed it most of the way out, how do you know you're not stuck in second, or shifting into second immediately? Are you still getting good take off and not reaching good top end, or is it a slower takeoff than you're used to?
The 70T will increase your WOT, but slow your takeoff a bit.

I have yet to solve it,so I give up on the 2.5 tranny and am going to a 3.3 tranny.I have tried everything? The 2.5 only has 1 shift clutch mechanism where the 3.3 has 2 = better.

It is kind of sluggish taking off sometimes but not to bad. I dont think that is shifting into second at all. The RPM's are very high that is why I dont think it is. There are two set screws in the tranny it is the second that adjusts the shift point. Right? I thinks the other set screw holds the clutch to the shaft. I just got into "nitro" r/c so I'm getting to know everything. Thanks for the advice any helps.

well there is a one way bearing in the tranny and if it gets froze then youll be stuck in 1st... just throwing it out there, it happend to me once

Which bearing is it and what did you have to do clean it or replce it?

well I'm new to this stuff too, but there is a one way bearing on the 1st speed gear it should spin one way with the rest of the gears and freespin the other. i had one freeze to the shaft and by the time i got it off there was no reusing it. it was pretty trashed so i replaced it

I'm sure that if I'm WAY off somone will chime in and correct me.

Since you've already been in the tranny, I'd suggest opening it up again and checking everything against the diagram.
Check both hex screws while you're there, and set the shift point 'out' so you'll know where it is, and when you're running again, make your shift adjustments 'in', or later. That way you won't run the risk of backing out the screw, and you'll know about where it should start to shift.

I took the tranny back apart and cleaned everything and put her back together she shifted fine. Thanks again for the advice:bow:

I would never have expected you'd have that problem just by leaving your grubby finger prints in there.
Good to hear it's back to normal.
