Hey everyone. On my Savage, the spur gear seems to wobble a bit. When it's pretty tight, it wobbles a lot. When it's set at point where it's not too loose, it doesn't wobble much. What's the problem? Do I need a new spur gear, slipper spring, slipper pads, etc?

No it's still there. All the pieces of the slipper clutch are there. The spur gear is wobbling though.

could be the center shaft on the tranny. If its not enough to eat up a spur gear then i say run it like it is. Mine had a slight wobble to it as well and it lasted for probably over a gallon.

I remember mine having a slight wobble as well. Just make sure it doesn’t bind with the clutch bell in any location when you rotate the spur by hand. If it does, adjust the mesh where you feel the binding and test it again.

The slipper hub is usually the culprit.
I have had one out of four Savages that had this problem. Just set the mesh carefully and it will be fine.

Mine has a wobble too, like said above as long as the mesh is fine...no problem.
