I have a problem with my RRP double disc slipper setup. When it turns, the gear wobbles, and not a little, its more than normal. It is cranked down all the way. Is there any setup that i need to use? Help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm new to the nitro trucks but I had a similar thing happen with my electric rustler which I'm not sure if they are set up the same but mine has 2 metal round disks that go on either side of the gear and they both have a very small pin that has to be lined up with a small hole in the spur gear of not it will make the gear set crooked and make it wobble but like I said I'm not sure if its the same set up with a nitro! Just keep checking this thread there are alot of people here who know everything there is to know about rc vehicals good luck :)

I bet it's because you got it cranked all the way down. Do to the nature of the coil if you tighten it too much it will cause the spur to be a little (or a lot) crooked. I noticed this when I installed my new spur. Try loosening up the nut quite a bit then tighten it back down slowly (check the spur with rotation) until you start to see the spur get crooked or wobble. Stop at this point and back off the nut about 1/4 turn or until it spins with no or little wobble.

Basically you want it to be about 1/4 turn looser than the tightest point without distortion. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I would first check the alignment of the discs to the pin. If they're right, it might just be a slightly warped spur gear. My stock gear was warped and had a slight wobble, but it had no effect on the running of the car.

my stock gear on my t-maxx was also warped and did the same thing. also like lessen said back it off 1/4 turn. i broke 2 spur gears in 2 rides because i tightened them improperly. good luck.

If this is a brand new spur, the wobble is normal (even if the set up is cranked all the way tight). Note, the spur gear is set up as a floating gear (meaning it is not fixed to the shaft it rotates on). This means at low rpms the gear could appear to wobble. As the rpms increase, the gear will flatten out in its rotations and the wobble should disappear.

If the gear does continue to wobble, remove it and lay it on a flat surface. If the gear does not lay flat, then you have a warped gear and should look to replace it.

But the wobble is normal.

What type of spur gear is it?
A full plastic gear?
A plastic outer gear with a metal plate?
A metal outer gear with a metal plate?

Did you just install the RRP Double Slipper, or has it been on for a while?

Its been on for at least 10 tanks with my 2.5, but i didnt notice the wobble, because i wasn't looking for it. But now that i am putting a big block in, i check everything, and i noticed that. It is the dds with the 72t steel outer gear. It does straighten out when i spin it fast, so i think I'm good now. thanks for all the help.

As I stated, it's a floating gear. It will wobble at slow speeds of rotation. Once it gets the rpms on it, it will flatten out. You have observed this...so, I'd say you are definitely okay.

As for the help, we are all glad to have provided it. That's what we're here for...you will be providing it for someone else in the not-to-distant future...I am sure.
