Well i finally bit the bullet and took out 2 of my rigs today and there was a metric Sh*t ton of snow out there and on the street it was hard packed snow so i said "wtf i'll go out and bash a little bit" and i tell you what if you think that the mini- e-revo is a handful when its dry out. . .try it in the snow, i also took my nitro 4wd buggy out too but that wasn't as fun as the merv, you hit the throttle and all 4 tires spin a roost of snow up and its instantly a little mini snowball. the buggy was about the same story but i was concerned about it being that is nitro powered so i didn't run too much, only 2 tanks just to see what it was like and not only that i don't believe my servos are waterproof. But thats all i gotta say so. . .see ya
 
Well let me tell ya this. I'm not sure what servo brand you're talking about but nothing is really waterproof. I think it's bull that traxxas says waterproof, they should be saying water resistant. Sure you can splash through puddles and go through some snow, but it'll get in there sooner or later. I like to think of it as protection from incidental water. And yes who can resist winter running. I just dumped wicked money into my 4908 T-maxx and I couldn't say no to firing up that picco 21 just for half a tank. We have some bare roads at my place plus I wrapped the head and richened the needles she held 200-210 the whole time, but it's 20f out. Now I know the setup works I'll swap in one of my good 'ol 3.3's and rip it!!
 
They should call them "Splash proof". Throw a bucket of water over them and they will probably be fine. Drop them intro a bucket of water.... good bye servo.
 
A little common sense goes along ways fellows. I've ran over 100 yards with my steering servo completely submerged with no incident. Batteries and esc's are a little more expensive, but if the waters that deep, your not going very far anyways. You wanna boat, get a boat.
 
any wayz guys i wasn't trying to start anything i was just seeing if any one else had some wither bashing stories/pics/videos. . .on the subject of. . .no servos were harmed in the making of the video. . .will post later
 
Servo saver came out while bashing but I just kept kicking it in another direction so I could plow through the snow a little longer:).

All I was trying to say is that I would drive in snow or rain, but wouldn't purposely get my stuff soaking wet. I think it's great they offer stuff like that but they will never outlast a servo that never sees water.
 
Yeah we still like ya though, no harm no foul. It's piddly stuff, we're talking about toy cars here......sofisticated ones!!
 
So has anybody had their engine suck in water? I've ran in the snow a couple times so far. The first time my filter looked like a snowball after just a half a tank. So I made a water guard for it ( you can check it out in the tmaxx forums, under the "this should get me some traction" thread) Anyways it still sucked in snow. The picco just kept chugging along, but i was curios if this was an issue for anyone else, and how you deal with it.
 
I had a 2.5 r suck in water once, I flipped my revo 2.5 (RIPieces) over in a foot of water. Ruined the reciever and the 2.5 went from 250 to freezing cold in a heartbeat. The engine was fine, just a good cleaning and a plug. I have heard stories of broken crank pins and rods from this but it would have to be reving high and/or running super hot for that to happen. I would be very careful running with snow on the filter though. I not sure exactly what it can do but it will certainly ruin a plug and cause tuning issues.
 
have any of you guys heard of problems when summer some after running your engine in cold snowy weather? cuz i guy i work with said that running them in the cold with all heating and sudden chilling from snow it will not run as good when its warm out. but i just richend mine up and i dont seem to have any problems. what do all you think
