When I am bashing in the local Home Depot parking lot, I like to to full throttle drifts..at almost full speed. My engine is not getting overly hot, and I do run on the rich side. Will it hurt my engine (in the short run) if I am running flat out alot? I know it isnt the best thing, but will I cause immediate damage?

Lots of people talk about stretching a rod running full open. I don't belive it is that big a deal as long as the vehicle is acutally being pushed meaning the wheels on the ground this should prevent major overreving which could cause the stretching. The big problem comes when you have a run away that flips over and then goes wot, it can rev to high because of no resistance.

Also think of the lamers that race oval they run longs times at WOT... X

Running it rich is a good idea because the fuel/air mix naturally leans out when you run WOT. I honestly don't know first hand, but I've read something about putting oil in the gas tank to help lube the engine. Maybe one of the RC vets can tell you if thats a good idea and if so what to use.

Actually you can add castor oil to the fuel to add more lube. This helps to keep the engine lubed and running cooler. Like X said, the only real troubles I have heard of are stretched con rods. Yes, running WOT a lot will shorten time between rebuilds. But if you can live with that, those 4-wheel drifts are pretty sweet...

thanks for the info so far - i just got this Rossi engine - and I really dont want to do any damage to it. Broke it in just right. Anyone else have any info about this topic?

I really dont see a problem if its little rich to cover wot lean out and as long as its under load
