so my engine 3.3 is done for and I'm getting a new engine..it was hard for me to take the flywheel out but i got it out by holding the flywheel with vice grip and it damage the lines a bit from gripping it..will that make lot of vibrations and could ruin my new motor?

thanks

Nope. I once asked the same question (about 3 months ago in fact...) when I got a Picco for my Maxx and took the flywheel off. It's scratched like crazy but I have yet to have any problems. It's chunks missing that you should be worried about, but a little scratch won't hurt it.

One thing though, when you're taking off or removing the flywheel, stick an old toothbrush down the bit where the carb attaches to into the slot in the crankshaft. This'll hold the crank still without damaging the conrod like a piston locking tool would do.

i did the same thing when i took off my stock flywheels. i ended up buying a new on cuz the vibrations where not right with me. i felt like something would have ended up coming loose if i didnt fix it. i have some extra flywheels if you want to send me a PM we could probably work something out if you want to get a new one

thanks for that info...i thought it would throw off the balance making lots of vibrations hurting the motor..

what tool do they have to hold the flywheel so that it wont get this problem?

or any other home made tools to use?

thanks:bow:

They make flywheel wrenches that actually hold the pins on the flywheel rather than the grip around the edges.

is it a good idea to use a little bit off lock tight on the nut so that the flywheel wont come loose ?

thanks
