how do i determine whether a transmission will fit?
i have a spare transmission ( OLD ONE FROM THE ECTO oopsie)
i like just doing stuff when I'm bored lol
i have the axial wraith, could i swap the transmission out if i wanted?
what determines that? just the driveshaft placement? I've noticed some come out of the center and some are offset, they both have the same outdrive,
o as I'm asking I'm now wondering, would the screw holes line up? id probly need a different plate to mount it to the chasis wouldnt i?
what general info would i need to start looking at?

Perfect time to learn more about your rigs. If you enjoy the wrenching then dig into it.
If it don't work, then un-dig. :D
EDIT: un-dig "redneck grammar for dummies". :D

I think we may be brothers from anotha motha sir! What you are attempting (or may attempt) is right in my lane. It's like punching a square peg into a round hole. A hair pulling experience but very satisfying if you make it work.

Recommend that you start out with the stock skid - may have to get out the drill for proper hole alignment, but that would be my first recommendation. Or, you could design/print a custom skid if you into that kind of thing. I have a 3D printer and have "attempted" to make parts but I suck at it. About the only thing I can successfully print are flower pots for my wife...

Another thing you may want to look at before you embark on this where the output shafts are on the Ecto tranny in relation to the pumpkins on the Wraith's axles. (As I am writing this I just googled some photos of the underside of the Wraith and it looks challenging to say the least. From what I am seeing the front pumpkin is located all the way over on the LH side of the axle and that could cause some real funky drive shaft geometry if the Ecto's tranny output is in the center or on the opposite side).

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can run the Ecto tranny backwards if needed. I've seen guys do this to get the correct geometry.

Should be a fun project if you do move on this. You'll have to keep us posted w/ photos if you do!
