I have really slow steering i thought t might be batteries but put new ones in still real slow any suggestions ?????

Have you made any front end adjustments? Is your suspension also stiff?
It might be the cups on the pillow balls are too tight, or have gotten wet and need a good cleaning.

What kind of servo are you using, and are you saying the steering is slow on the ground or when you hold the wheels in the air?

it is slow when i hold it up and wont move at all on the ground un less i am moving, i am running the stock servo is that my problem

If it's still slow with new batteries and you're holding it off the ground, I would be inclined to believe the steering is binding. I would do as Rolex said and first check the pillow balls on the front to see if the retainers are too tight. Take the front wheels off and unhook the servo arm from the steering servo. Then move the hubs back and forth. They should turn very easily. If they don't, somethings bound and you need to find that. The stock steering servo may not be the most powerful thing, but it should easily turn the wheels when the truck is off the ground.

No You Must Buy The Most Expensive Servo You Can Find....and Then Buy More Stuff To Make Your Truck "cooler"....that Candyman Is Tricking You Into Not Spending Money....remember Fear = Consumption......we Need To Have Fear That We Are Not Capable Of Solving The Problem And Consume Stuff......buy A Solution To Your Problem Don't Use Your Head To Solve The Problem.....that Is Unamerican......
Oh Yeah Don't Use That Search Thing Either It's Really A Waste Of Time....
:jk: and thought i'd :stick: it to everyone reading this...

What would be a good servo that would make the wheels turn faster? My Maxx seems to turn very slow also, It will move them freely off the ground it does Ok, it would just be nice if they would turn quicker!

Jesse if the problems are still just weak servos then I suggest this
http://www.southeastrc.com/item/HRC32645S
they sell for about 37 bucks and seem to be the best thing above stock that won't break the bank.....digitals are the way to go but I just bout 2 servos and a Rx last nite for 300 bucks.....JR 220/260 servos and the HRS Futaba RX...those servos have 260oz of torque and the faster one I forget the model number but it has 100ox and travels .08 sec......those are really for high performance RC races.....I'm still trying to get thte nerve to race.....I'm one of those guys that want perfection the first time out.....LOL.....I guess I'll never get to race then.....
Firemaxx if the problem (after doing what candyman and rolex suggest) still exists the stuff I just wrote Jesse applies to you too.......thanks for staying w/ me til I got back on track....

LOL your silly I defiently dont want to spend lots of money on a servo! The ones I got from you, the stock traxxas ones work fine for now for me :) My truck is pretty much where I want it, It would be nice to have a little more power :jet: but who doesn't want that lmao! I probally wont be spending money on it for a while them stupid things called bills need the cash more than my Maxx lol. I think lights and water/heat might be helpfull hehe

By the way what is the differance between a standard servo and a digital?

yeah w/o lights you can't see to fix the maxx...so I do understand the priority structure.....I was just showing one of the extremes you can go to with some of the stuff......steering issues 9outta10 times are things like rolex and Candyman said....everbody seems to think throwing money at it will solve it...but the reality is like I had a situation where I got the 260oz servo but was just overpowering the problem and eventually a steering link just snapped and my front end went in 2 directions while going WOT over bumps....lots of repairs...all little stupid stuff but it was very time consuming nonetheless....I test all my linkages when I set up my RCs w/ no servos or motorized parts connected and everything should move around when I shake it but have as little play as possible in it.......A-Arms are one that most people don't check and then they wonder why their suspension sucks......all the pinned moving parts need to move freely...meaning no points should stop them from range of motion.....

digital servos are always looking for exact positions....I beleive they have more of a processor than a potentiometer for the signal that controls them......I wouldn't quote me on that but that's what it looks like to me......I don't really read a lot on this stuff so I could be way off base...I have to deal w/ electronics design all day and I can make some educated guesses on it...LOL.....maybe someone of higher techy talk can verify or put me in my place

To tell you the truth I tested one it worked so I used it lol I havent checked the other one yet If it works I was thinking of using it for my throttle/breaks to give it a little more stopping power.

well I needed a fish......I actually have a picture of a wood fish sculpture I pasted plaid scrap materials onto....I wanted that to be my avatar but it didn't seem to upload...

I'll stop throwing this thread off track now I promise...
just don't ban me for talking freely OK
