I have a Savage X with a pull start and my rope is saturated with oil, is it leaking out of the crank case? Also I seen a little piece of metal protruding out of the pin hole that holds the piston to the connecting rod, I'm guessing that is not good. One more thing I was told that my truck has a 3 speed tranny is there any way to tell by looking at it (it wont shift into third gear, so i was going for a visual confirmation) Any help would be great :\

The oil could be leaking down from the exhaust port bypassing the exhaust gasket and landing on the pullstart or it could be leaking around the backplate.
Best way to tell is to clean it up, run it, and watch for evidence.

The pin - when you say it's protruding out the pinhole - is it protruding out so that it is outside the diameter of the piston - as in scratching the inside of the cylinder or is the pin staying inside the retainer area and look like it's cutting across the face of the pin and keeping the the pin from moving side to side?
First one is bad, the other for some retainer pins is normal.

2 or 3-speed - Pull rubber gear box cap off the left side.
Do you have a 2 hole or 3 hole transmission?
If 3 hole it's easy - you should see a black plastic gear through the small hole on the left.
A large metal gear through in the middle hole.
A smaller metal gear which is partially hidden by the plastic between the two large holes.
If it's a 2 hole, do your best to figure it out given the information above, but you may just be better off cracking it open. You'll probably need to do this to adjust it anyways.

BTW - noticed in another thread that your engine isn't running just right (carb o-ring air leaks). Don't worry about it not shifting until you fix these issues.

I fixed the oring problem and it seems to be running good, it is pretty hard to start though probably because i have a pull start. Oh and the piece of metal I was talking about is a tiny metal sliver that looks like it is coming off the side of the sleeve for the connecting rod pin, its not touching the cylinder walls becuse it is recessed in the connecting rod pin hole. I dont know if I should leave it alone or try to pull it out with some plyers

It's probably the retaining clip and if so it's ok.
Some wrist pin retaining clips look like a G while others look like a C.
I have an HPI 4.6 engine which has the type of wrist pin retaining clip that looks like a G.
These retaining clips fit into a groove that is slightly larger than the hole that the wrist pin fits into and they keep the wrist pin from trying to come out of the hole.

I wouldn't try to force it by using pliers - a pair of tweezers or a toothpick could probably help you determine if it belongs there or not.
I'm guessing it's OK...

that is the wrist pin cir clip it sits in a groove in the piston if it looks flush with the piston skirt it is fine if its poped out a little it will score the sleeve.the hard start my be weak pinch
