What are the importance of CVD's? I've read the ads- "produces nearly zero backlash and drastically improves acceleration and traction." But how? I understand there would obviously be less flex than with the stock telescopes, but "drastically improve acceleration"? I beat the hell out of both my Maxxes, and never had a problem with the telescopes...why replace them?

Share some honest experience on the subject....

The plastic shafts will actually twist under hard acceleration robbing you of performance. When I put the OS in one of my maxxes within 6 tanks the rear shafts were twisted pretty badly. I bought Dynamite cvds all around and have not had a single problem since. The plastic ones were fine for the stock pro 15 but sucked for the higher performance engine. I would definately recommend them, they are not cheap though, it set me back about $100 for a complete set.

Yeah, the price was what made me wonder why so many people spend so much money on them. I've got the Sirio .18 and I've never had a problem with twisting... Anyone see an improvement in acceleration?

The telescoping shafts will eventually get overtorqued with any high performance engine. I dropped a Fantom .15 into my T-Maxx, and started overtorquing drive axles almost immediately. You will not see it after one run, but run a few tanks through and then remove the axle. Pull them apart and check the channels for straight-ness. You will see that they are no longer straight. The other area that gets over torqued are the universal joints or "cups" as they are often referred to. You will see them twisted and deformed after a couple of tanks of hardcore running.

I replaced my drive axles on all four corners with a set of MiP CVDs and the performance increase was noticed immediately. Better transfer of power from engine to wheels. Acceleration was never my weak area, but the jump off the line did get noticeably better.
